FCPX 10.1.2 PRE-RELEASE DISCUSSION 18 Jun 2014 09:34 #48050

... This is a loggers dream window, you can see all the info you need, it has everything you need, .. I so want to pay someone to build it as a proof of concept, that I am right, and dammit I know I am right, ...

Justine,
you're an FCPX-haters dream ;)
.. complaining things missing, which are allready there.... :woohoo:

Even as an FCPX-amateur and non-tape-user, I know all you're showing IS in FCPX avail PLUS the 'logging v.2.0' offers much, much more than just those 'technical' data... meta-data and tags are the weapons of choice!

May I suggest, you stop flooding this thread with your personal ignorance (sorry, no better word for it in my small vocabulary, not meant as an personal offence), and, for example, read/watch Michael Garber's excellent turtorial/best-practice-example, how to use FCPX''logging' feature for editing interviews:
www.fcp.co/final-cut-pro/tutorials/1436-...-with-michael-garber

Why just numbers (timecodes), when you can have real text? ....
Why sorting by hand, when a computer does it automatically? ....
Why clips in one 'drawer' (bins/folders), when you can find it with several keywords? ...

(no, these questions don't ask for your reply, just meant rethorically ;) )

In fairness, I started that one. Point taken though, perhaps I was a little short sighted with my logging requirements.

Ok, back to speculation and crazy talk :D
How about expandable compound clips in the timeline?
How useful would that be? I'd love to be able to click a little arrow (similar to Finder's 'list view') to twirl down/expand the compound clip, right in the timeline. When you're done, just hit the arrow to collapse it all back into a single compound clip.

"Everything new is new again!"
could be Larry's misterious hint...

And apple.com store and support are 'off'...

@Chazfest Double click the compound clip to work in it then use the arrow to navigate back. Or break it apart and then re-compound. There are so many more things that need addressing mate.

How about consolidating media with handles, dupe detection, proper match frame, customizable interface, better audio tools, custom timeline views, keyframe colour corrections to name but a few.

I'm aware, but often when I'm cutting to music/dialogue I want to make the decisions in the edit 'mate'.
And I agree on all the above points, there are many, many things that need addressing.

I'd love this too. So you could edit the contents in the context of the cut.
be great if you could expand and collapse the way audio components do.

Yeah that's a great idea. It would be a great way of allowing you to attach to secondary clips as well. Id be kind of tempted to suggest that expandable compound clips and secondary storylines become one and the same. It also solves one of my personal niggles that secondary storylines are harder to work on than the primary.

FCPX 10.1.2 PRE-RELEASE DISCUSSION 18 Jun 2014 13:31 #48065

@TGC Absolutely! If it could work as seamlessly as the 'expand/collapse audio components' command, that'd be awesome!

@Seamusvfx I agree. The limited connections functionality is a niggle of mine at present, too.

So, this just happened. Who's in?

"We are talking #FCPX and taking your questions TONIGHT bit.ly/T3VctT"
Invalid consumer key/secret in configuration

Makes me wonder... has something changed? Is the big reveal actually going to be 'TONIGHT'? Or is it nothing more than preparation for tomorrows event? Either way, it sounds like this update could be pretty big

Are you trying to suggest that Ripple Training has the privilege of knowing in advance the exact date of the FCPX release?

The update is gonna be big and this time, it will be a paid upgrade (US Price $199-$299) when it release by tomorrow in App Store. Everyone will be in shock and that will be a trending topic in Ripple Training event tomorrow. So make sure our credit card is fully paid or have enough balance to charge that off in App Store.

You know, I hope it *is* a paid upgrade. 3 years of free updates is an amazing feat! But I'd like to see Apple give us a reason to pay for X again. I'd like this update to be mammoth :D

FCPX 10.1.2 PRE-RELEASE DISCUSSION 18 Jun 2014 14:32 #48076

I wouldn't get your hopes up- I think the "Rule of Tuesdays" is still in effect- at least as far as Feature releases goes.

Companies like RT or Larry Jordan who get early access to software might have a general idea of when the software is being released, based on how stable individual betas are getting. But whether they're given info on exact dates is unknown.

The RT live Event tonight might be a scheduling conflict or something. I'd love to be wrong, but I don't think they'll have a new FCP X to talk about this week.

I tried to point this out days ago. Larry even said in his newsletter the he'll talk about "Everything New" later this month. He also mentions that there are a "number of new exciting products" which makes me think CC.

Everyone has know about this event for weeks, so there's no reason for Larry to have been coy about it. I'm sure Larry will be covering the CC announcements- but I think part of that is unannounced X update as well.
