While I think Apple will still "technically" release the new MP in December, I think it's HIGHLY LIKELY that anyone who orders anything other than a stock configuration probably won't see their machine until January.

I'm starting to think it stands for pro-crastinate!
Well, I'm starting to believe that having to shut down all the stores, for at least half an hour during Xmas times, has a cost that even an Apple Pro product cannot afford...CBlakeston wrote: I don't think releasing the Mac Pro and a software update will dilute their marketing message. Whether it's this week or after Xmas they will just become available with no song and dance. The tech press will go crazy of course but little Johnny's Mum shopping for an iPad isn't going to be any the wiser.

The project remains OK, editable and playable.
If you select a clip in the project's timeline and choose 'Reveal in Event' from the File menu (or context menu), the clip is added to the same event that the project is in.

Shutting down the store is more like a marketing tactic. An effective one for Apple. Builds excitement and enthusiasm driving the tumbleweeds on Microsoft's site nuts. We're more likely to know of FCPX through a MAS update notification.
It's appearing MacMall might have been in the know after all about "next month." We'll know soon enough.

I agree. I think this is all MacPro related.

Yeah, I was also hoping for that too...Disproportionate Pictures wrote: I'm not sure they need to, with the base config pages already there.

Agreed. Specifically, I think it is related to Apple's decision to assemble them in the U.S.A. - which of course led to the use of high-fructose corn syrup in place of thermal grease in the CPU and GPU cooling systems. Damn you, Iowa caucuses!

Frustrating thing is that, while it's "nice" that they tied the released of 10.1 to the MacPro, if the MacPro is a hold up, there's no serious reason for them to hold up 10.1. It's not like there's a big marketing event tied together that would impact sales or perception.

I agree.
My decision to upgrade to 10.1 and my decision to buy a MacPro are totally independent of each other.
