FCPX 10.1.0 PRE-RELEASE DISCUSSION
Either way, mObject does indeed look to be shaping up as the Element3D that we've wanted for Motion for so long now. So excited to see some realtime demos.

Great that means no worthy update.

From which I gathered, they didn't seem to have a direct point of contact with Apple. But maybe they were just being coy

We might just find out sooner rather than later...
Sounds like the same answers Philip Hodgetts gives when people ask him about integrating EMX into FCPX.
Considering the work they do in Motion templates over at MotionVFX (some of the best stuff being done in the app, as far as I'm concerned), I can think of few better people to have beta testing new versions of Motion.

So, what Ben mentions above:
… would have greatest attraction to me."…We will not see FCP X become "everything", but we will see a great, solid, well thought out core app evolve and become better and better over time. And we'll see third party developers do some amazing things, also.…"
I fully understand the disadvantage of such a concept = interchanging projects gets complicated, 'cause you can never know, if the other machines offers the same bunch of plug-ins. … on the other hand: a Lego-based feature-kit doesn't bloat the host.app - which probably makes it faster and rock solid.- Easier to maintain, too.

…
The flip side of that is that relying heavily on 3rd part plug-in has the potential to make thing less stable especially if the 3rd party developers aren't quite so hot at QA on all the different machine variations.
(It's not like christmas isn't great, but I'm not expecting any gifts that will exceed the joy of playing around with a big new release of FCPX  )
But what really cool is that the new version is obviosly screenshot'ed on apple.com/thunderbolt:
Just take a look, at this iMac, running the current version of Final Cut Pro X
Then, there is the Mac Pro seen here:
I don't know if this has been talked about anywhere yet but, here are some things to notice:
- The Project Library button is missing. What does that mean? Nothing?
- Thumbnails in the Events are more like iOS7 in the sense that they are flatter, and have no rounded corners
- The top row of thumbnails in the Event is not aligned with the rest
- The grey line between the event and canvas is gone. Can't reeally see room for a scroll bar either
Lastly, I think it's a bit weird that they present a screenshot that clearly shows the red render bar, whilst the background meter is at 100%. I guess the point is to illustratate that background rendering isn't nessecary on such an awesome machine, but still a screenshot doesn't really convey that.

2. Don't think the image has enough detail for that.
3. It's scrolled off the top.
4. That's a function of the OS which can hide the scroll bar.

We can back-check this after the update come out.
2. The screenshot is obviously taken at 4k resolution, so all gui elements will be smaller, explaning it. But I'll still maintain that there is plenty of detail to see that you cant spot the rounded corners, this includes the timeline, which you can in the iMac screenshot. Please look at the actual image from the website, not the scaled down images here on the forum.
3. Scrolling down doesn't skew things left or right.
4. With that setting turned on, there is still scroll bars on Mac OS 10.9 and FCPX 10.0.9 so that's not it.

and the retina MacPro shot looks like it is missing the project button and is lacking the shadowing.

elvisripley wrote: Picture of what would display on a retina screen. It is just higher res of the same web image. iMac is the same.
That's true!
The resolution is waaaaay better on this screenshot:
images.apple.com/thunderbolt/images/display_hero_2x.jpg
5. There isn't a horisontal scroll bar at the bottom either, and the dead space where a vertical scroll bar could fit (where the audio levels can be displayed) is gone. Both two steps taking more advantage of screen real estate
6. Thumbnails in the event and clips in the timeline are definetly more square.
7. It says 'Tahiti Surf Trip Hero' at the top of the surfer, and displaying an icon that should be a project icon, but it looks more like a clapper or something! Another hint pointing to the iMovie X approach?
