There is a developer version where third party can adjust there code so its will run on the new "engine" code.
It is smart to develop on this version to 1 get your plugin up to date on the release 2 for performance adjustments 3 new technology

Beta testing finds bugs, that means some code has to be rewritten, and sometimes it means it adversity effects other parts of code, and more has to be rewritten. Otherwise, how would bugs be fixed?

Third party developers, to my knowledge, are not all invited to beta testing of all apps. I've no idea how the process of choosing who is invited and who isn't works, but I know some developers are not invited. Very few have updates the day of a release.

I know of no "developer version" of FCPX. I've never seen or heard of one. For the OS, yes. But I've never seen one for individual apps.

This is no public park where you climb on your wooden box and yell out whatever you want.

This is a privately owned & controlled website, Mr Wiggins is legally liable for ANYthing published here!
Not you, not me, not hiddenbehindnic2000 ...

Just to put into perspective: topic is some tiny piece of software for some tiny niché of market - the manufacturer defines his rules, and the owner of this site his … respect it. Or leave it.

Okay thanks for explanation maybe worth to think about to put a note in the www.fcp.co/terms-and-conditions page ... just as an idea. Don't see/find a reference there .

And THANKS to Mr Wiggins to host the site!! (no irony although it might sound as such from a German standpoint) ;-))

I'm sure someone has already mentioned the 9to5 Mac post with Mark Gurman's comment about FCPX 10.3:

"Improved audio mixing, slightly flatter interface tweaks."

He also mentions an iMovie update with "Magic Toolbar" support. That makes it sound like FCPX 10.3 won't get support for the new toolbar? I guess we will find out tomorrow.

I'm wondering if FCPX 10.3 gets any stage time at all. It might be more about iMovie with FCPX just getting a product page refresh and update in the App Store.

Has FCP X ever gotten stage time at an Apple event since the initial launch? Can't think of any off hand.

It got time with the retina Macbook Pro, showing off 1080p as a small quadrant. I think it got a quick video showing off how many streams of 4K with the Mac Pro a few years ago. That's about it.

Didn't they use FCPX to show off the 5K Retina iMac too?

It will never happen. Apple makes money when you buy a Mac.

Yeah, Resolve would be my next NLE if Apple did the dirty...
If anything I would stay on FCPX for as long as I could, just not pay for upgrading, but if anything history tells us, Apple will not do this, with the previous version of FCP, if you bought the full suite, you only paid an upgrade rate, not a full purchase price.

Even if Apple was to say make upgrades paid, it would not be more than $300, I would more than likely pay that, after all it is with the original purchase and the upgrade fee, cheaper than a full version of Resolve!!

But no I think you might take a piss on the moon before Apple makes you pay for an upgrade!!

Which other app gives you 5 years of free updates for $300? Apple sees the bigger picture.
