Seems like right now you would need to wait until 10.1 is released for it's ability to open iMovie 10 projects.

I probably won't install FCP7 on that machine.

If this is for me- I haven't opened FCP7 in a couple of months. 2 of my 3 regular clients have already moved to X, and I'm going in to start transitioning the 3rd later this month.
The Final Cut Studio suite takes up a lot of space, which will be precious on the SSD.

I have reasons to believe this is not the case.

I've been on FCPX since Feb 2012. If I was getting loads of calls for old projects I'd be more concerned, but I'm not and generally if something isn't revisited after a year, it isn't going to be.
I can always install it later if I really need to, but I'm going to start under the assumption that I don't need it.

If iMovie 10 is any indication, Projects will now reside inside events. See the other posts in this thread.

What? It already cuts 4k, just fine. I converted some 1DC stuff to prores that I also wanted to pull stills from and a 4k timeline was a breeze on a 15 minute edit.
"Work with multiple libraries
You can think of a library as the place to store all your stuff: a collection of one or more events. An event is a grouping of footage based on the date and time the clips were recorded, as well as the projects you create with them. Most of the time, you have only one iMovie library, but there are situations in which you might want to have more than one. For example, you might want to back up your current project or create an archive of your events and projects on a separate (external) hard disk. Or you might want to free up storage space on your Mac by moving iMovie events to another hard disk. Or you might want to edit a project on another Mac.
iMovie allows you to create additional library files in different locations on your internal hard disk or on different hard disks. You can access and work on any library at any time from within iMovie. And you can move and copy clips and events between libraries."

2K Update? FCPX supported 4K from it's release.

One of the things I am certainly looking forward to is the ability to move / store / open events/projects anywhere on the hard disk and not just in the root.
When Aperture launched it had very restricted places to store the library but later releases allowed you to move them pretty much anywhere. I hope that's where FCPX is headed.
*move along. Nothing to see here...*
