I'm hoping it's along those lines and not just an X for OS X 10.9. Here's to wishful thinking! |

At WWDC? I admire your optimism, guys... but it's OSX. The banners are for the two products they've already said were going to be in the keynote. iOS7 and OSX.

9to5mac has a rundown of
some surprises we might see next week
.
The MacPro, FCPX, and Logic are mentioned. As I've said before, I think a FCPX update next week will only come if it's tied to a hardware announcement like last year's Retina update. But I'm not worried. If we don't see anything, I don't think the update is far away regardless. I'd lay money it's less than 60 days away. |

After announcing in late March their initiative to win back the pro market, I don't think they can go too long without another update. It's already been two months. Why lose momentum if you really want to try and win back that market?

I'm beginning to wonder about that report. If it was actually a Apple sanctioned article- or if someone was just extrapolating based on the update and the new IN ACTION articles. Strangest thing about that article was that there was no direct quotes from anyone at Apple. If this was a dedicated PR move, SOMEONE from Apple should be in there talking from Apple's perspective. Just seems very odd now in retrospect.
That said, Apple's update schedule is approximately every 3 months- so they're still on track as long as the next update comes out by end of June or beginning of July. It's a lot more often than any other NLE is being updated right now. Of course, there's more to do in FCPX too... |

I think it really would make good sense to announce the new X Products that will run on Apple's new MacPro.
Build up the hype for the October release. I'm not confident there will be a FCP X update, unless there is some functionality it can take advantage of with Mac OS 10.9 Ocelot ...er Linx um... Sabertooth? Sean Lander - Editing since 1982 - AVID 1991 - FCP 1999 - FCPX 2011

Got close to that 5 or 6 years ago when I was cutting some small SD DV projects on site with a laptop and the footage on an iPod Classic.

Not totally unexpected, they've streamed their last 2 events. But good to hear.
Should be a good show. Something FCPX related would be a wonderful bonus, but it's way down on the probability list. iOS7 and OSX 10.9 are a given. Hopefully some big updates to iCloud to smooth out the developer issues. After that a MacPro announcement is all I'm hoping for. Just to shut people up about it. |

If they discuss the MacPro dual GPU support I suspect that will be tied to FCPX and/or Motion updates as that would be the hardware tie in. Again this is assuming that MacPro hardware will be mentioned at all.
Assuming the dual GPU support I'd be surprised if it weren't mentioned because this would be of significant import to software developers. ... and given how Apple uses software to sell hardware, encouraging developers to support dual GPUs would be very important to increasing demand or desire for MacPros. |

I suggest that after the WWDC keynote (in ten minutes), a whole new thread is started about what we all think about it. Oh hell, I'll just start one now. Duh... idiot me...

Still some questions to be answered. But it's very exciting. Am I wrong or did I see no traditional PCIe expansion. Leads to questions about what TB2's thruput capability is.

I'd be incredibly surprised if we had to wait for the Sept/Oct launch of the MacPro for an update to FCPX.
One paragraphs on the MacPro page states that,
Sounds like true background rendering is coming to FCPX. |

I'd also be surprised if we have to wait the whole summer for an update to FCPX. However the tag 'a new version' sounds like they could be readying a paid update (10.1?) to the app to go with the new MacPro.
