A CC has the same properties as a Project. You can edit an entire program in a CC and it will show up in your Event. This edit can be stand alone or be used as a sub clip for another CC. I when it comes to duplicating your CC, you can use Command-D and now you have a copy to alter as you see fit. Here's a good article on some of the pros and cons do working this way: daredreamermag.com/2013/02/28/a-radical-...r-final-cut-x-users/

for example, first tests of Haswell demoed, the new AVX2 needs 'optimized code' to make full effect of the accelerations this new chip design offers ...... … I like the idea, mentioned in another post here, to bundle a new MacPro with FCPX 10.1, like Apple does with consumer Macs and iMovie! ![]() |

terrible language, I know ![]() in short: they tested a video effect (animating 2 png), this test was suggested by IBM (!) = 300% faster. testing a diff. feature, which obviously isn't yet optimized in the code of the software in use (encoding) = 5% faster. testers say, it's not just a compiler thing, but needs some handcraft - and that's all about in the post I replied to, giving developers some time ........ |

Haswell chips to be used in new MacPro? Shurely Xenon type chips? Looks good for new iMacs though...

More rumors concerning a new macPro:
www.facebook.com/MacProsPlease/posts/618830514796717 Here the essential information: - It will be heavily reliant on Thunderbolt. - There will be no internal expandability. - It will have support for Dual GPU's with three monitor support right out of the box. - No FW800 or Optical drive - It will be released in the fall - It will be a completely new design Looks like next week is going to be very interesting! |

Mostly makes sense. It's similar to what I've been thinking.
I'm not sure about the author's interpretation though. I'd have to guess that there's going to be one or two 16x PCIe slots user accessible. For too many reasons pro users may need to switch from one GPU to another (AMD or nVidia) (and I suspect one will a GPU on the motherboard which the user can't change) or any other card rated higher that 4x PCIe (which Thunderbolt would handle). I've been calling it the "pizza box" because it will be rack mountable. |

Surely because it looks like a pizza box? ![]() I think Apple will blind-side us all with this one... I also suspect that this is the thing that they will make in the USA. I also think that a new 'monitor' is on the way; would be nice if it was 4k rez. Anyone for a 17" MacBook Pro? ![]() |

Meh. I still can't see around the need for PCIe before TB become fast enough for the heavier-lifting cards. I agree that modular design cold work, but TB can't be that connector yet as far as I can tell.
I don't think anyone really knows what's happening. So few people's hands are on this, there's bound to be way less people "in the know" than on the average Apple product. |

It all sounds good so far, except no expandability. However, if your surmising about it being built in USA is correct, perhaps this will do something to stem at least some of the tide of negative press of late. The whole "attack the successful because if they are they must be evil" spiel is getting a bit tired.

Playhead/timeline scrolling so the playhead doesn't disappear out of view as it carries on playing. I find this a massive annoyance. Certainly better archiving options and audio editing options. Connecting clips to other connected clips. I like the idea of project versioning. Integrating the features of Event Manager X into FCPX. Integrate Compressor fully into FCPX wouldn't be bad. Text tools need improving, I'd like an eye dropper to match the colour of text to something in the image. Manual White Balance options.

An audio program I use sometimes has great versioning. You can undo even after close and reopen a project, scan back and retake a different branch you took before. Basically unlimited undo/redo right back to anything, even the first thing you did. |

In addition to other things mentioned I would love to see dynamic trimming added to X. I have found no better way to get the feel for the timing of where to put an edit then dynamic trimming.
A coule other that haven't been mentioned... Batch rendering of projects The ability to move multiple projects at one time in the project manager. An example of this is when I back up multiple projects to a second drive. If I then want to create a folder on that drives project library and move all the projects into that folder, I have to move them one at a time. Huge time waster |

"I'd like an eye dropper to match the colour of text to something in the image."
Just a friendly FYI: You can already do that. For highlighted text, "Text" tab of the Inspector, "Face" section, click the color square for "Color". Use the magnifying glass in Apple's color picker to select any color on your screen. |

You can get pretty close to Avid dynamic trimming by selecting your edit point, single roller of double roller, and then JKL to your edit point and then shift-X to move your edit point. Works during playback. Give it a shot. |

Apple doesn't typically tend to be very reverent about "anniversaries" as they relate to software and hardware development.
That said, I can't shake the feeling we are rapidly approaching a new feature release. 10.0.6 was in October, and we've had 2 essentially maintenance updates since then. So there's been a lot of time for development of new features in the past 8 months. Excited, as always. |

Haswell....
Hmmmm, a bit OT about something that's not even released yet... but does anyone know if one might be able to buy the single cpu version and put it in an older MacPro (I have an early 2009 4,1 PM) ? I know I can do this with one of the current XEONs. |

See some of the banners at WWDC have simply a large "X". Hopefully this means the launch of Logic X, Aperture X and Motion X to coincide with the new MacPro.
It all makes sense now why last year Tim Cook said "...don’t worry as we’re working on something really great for later next year." it was to coincide with Intel's roadmap of processors and the release of Thunderbolt 2.0. Sean Lander - Editing since 1982 - AVID 1991 - FCP 1999 - FCPX 2011
