If you change the connection point to the marker, this creates multiple primary storylines, so that you have much more freedom to edit.
Markers could become the one thing that pushes FCPX into a new dimension, it takes magnetic timeline editing to a far more powerful state.
You should still be able to connect to primary storyline, but why? That is just stupid and lazy...It creates more problems than it solves...My idea quite frankly shocked me when I realized what this means...

Here's the deal: the primary storyline works on more levels than just a backbone to a story to build onto. It's not wrong to say something drives the story forward. It's not always a main video track. Sometimes it's an audio track. In this case, the audio is in the primary storyline and video clips are connected.
You can even put a gap clip in the primary storyline (with markers that are locked in time... To the gap clip) and audio and video tracks are free to move around as connected clips.
I see genius in this method. The primary storyline has a ton of workflows that aren't possible in track-based editors.

I am not suggesting that markers are the only option, but I have found it would have been mighty useful to be able to connect to something other than the primary storyline, the marker serves many functions, and as an additional connection point helps solves a few frustrations.
No question the power of FCPX is mighty, and yes everything you say is valid, I am not disputing that, look it would help me as an editor, maybe not for you, it was just a thought I had, about what was bugging me, and having multiple ways to connect clips is better than 1 option only! That is all

I could be wrong but I've not known him to report on either iPhone/consumer technology or be freewheeling with hyperbole or enthusiasm about release dates - maybe there are some tea leaves to read here.
One thing is for certain with FCPX, the only certainty is uncertainty. I remember when it was said on here "absolutely no Friday releases" and we received a Friday release the same week. So who knows anymore?
Hope its soon and happy cutting.

I really just want full marker customization and some kind of innate FCPX solution for the Blank Adjustment Layer

Totally. I don't think anyone would dispute the iPhone 7 being the focus tomorrow. But I would neither expect only the iPhone, Watch, iOS/MacOS nor be surprised if FCPX, MacBook Pro, Mac Pro update was announced more formally, after both the augmented recent customer outreach effort (Summit) last year and the long gap between last updates.it sounds more like a play on the iPhone "7"

Right, and a potential callback to another product. They are capable of many things, of which duality of message is one. Anyway, the level of scrutiny on these boards doesn't really amount to anything more than idle gossip. Fun to keep a sense of adventurism.

(I don't want a "protruding lens update in FCPX" if it means waiting a little bit longer)
PS always a devote Apple fan and business user of course....

Naw … side-by-side dual cameras wouldn’t necessarily be for wide to telephoto ... more like stereoscopic 3-D ... maybe?

I believe there's a Samsung phone that already has this feature and I think there's been speculation that Apple will do the same (but maybe better)
