I never said they were not "suitable", I said a RAID configuration is not a "substitute" for having a backup. I have a RAID5 for my media and libraries. I have a USB 2 drive as the backup for my RAID. If I lose one drive, I can slip in another, it rebuilds (not all RAID controllers can do that), I'm done. But if a second drive goes bad before then, I lose everything. Thus a full backup to a different volume is the only safe way to work. Every RAID volume needs to be backed up regularly to a separate volume. Suitable is not the same as substitute, don't accuse me of saying things I never said, please.

***Got a fast response from SoftRaid - their RAID software will require an update for El Capitan. Version 5.1 is predicted to be available around Oct. 15. He also gave me a link to a beta of it, but I think I'll pass on running a beta of RAID software
Still curious about whether iDVD still functions in EC.
And, MotionVFX tweeted earlier today that all their plugins, etc. are EC compatible.

BenB wrote: RAID is not a substitute for a Backup. RAID = performance, Backup = security. RAID without backup, no matter what, is just foolhardy.
But I wouldn't panic about the RAID it is full still intergraded in OS X. Maybe it will come back.

I went and upgraded to El Capitan... The Timecode Window looks corrupted; When creating YouTube presets in the Destinations panel, FCPX will crash (Quit) every time.
UPDATED:
I've had 2 clients that have sat in on my editing session and have said "is there something wrong with your editing software?", "Is that going to affect the edit?!" !! Although this minor (or so we are lead to believe) hasn't shown any detrimental effect during workflow.. its becoming embarrassing and annoying that my clients keep pointing it out, and are even worried it will affect their project!! My clients are not gaining any confidence when they are starring at a messed up timecode window.. Hardly a great advert for Apple is it!

I had been told that there were issues with El Capitan that actually caused the Mac Pro to run more slowly. You don't appear to be seeing that.
Do you have any FXFactory plug-ins?
This is all very interesting to say the least!

My biggest issue with FCP X has always been slowdown in performance with "complex" projects.

I'm running FCPX 10.2.2 and have installed El Capitan. I dragged some MXF files from finder directly into FCPX. My default import preferences for this project were to 'leave files in place', 'create proxies' and 'remove silent channels'. Import went fine but when I looked at the imported footage ALL of the audio channels had been removed. I could here nothing on any of the clips and inspector showed no audio channels on any of the videos... There should be 2 channels of audio with these particular videos.
I've lodged a report with Apple so hopefully there will be a fix for this soon.

Very unfair and unrealistic statement. Core Image and auvaltool both have bugs, both are vital to the pro apps. Third party developers can't fix these for Apple. Every OS X update will have issues. Every OS of any flavor will have issues with an update. We just find them, report them, wait for fixes. NEVER has an OS or app update every been released that was bug free.

The only issue I've seen so far is the wonky timecode window in FCP X. No other problems to report at this time. All plug-ins I tried worked properly.
One thing that struck me was that even though I usually work on a new Mac Pro, the iMac "felt" not much different that what I'm used to on the Mac Pro under Yosemite.
Later this month I'll update the Mac Pro. Maybe issues with Core Image etc with be fixed by then.
