FCPX And El Capitan
Yes, Apple has done this sort of release without 100% functionality before. Other developers do it. It in fact is common practice in the industry. Bits and pieces get added in, updated, etc. over time.
I wouldn't freak out or get upset over anything just yet.

What I meant was, iZotope hasn't officially said their plugins work yet. But on my three, and many others I'm aware of, with 10.11.1, they are in fact working. Even if it isn't official yet.
Did the update and on my machine RX4 doesn't pass validation.
Someone mentioned a workaround, what is that workaround? Want to give it a try before reverting to 10.10.5...

There was a workaround posted on the iZotope forum. But there have been reports that this didn't work for everyone, so it has been removed.
To add to your joy: yesterday iZotope posted an official statement recommending any users of their plugins not to update to El Capitan until the end of November. Many of their plugins do not validate in El Capitan and iZotope is working on a fix. For the RX users this affects both RX4 and RX5, and RX4/RX5 Advanced.

I hope you will be able to revert to 10.10.5.

Sorry but almost everything on that page is BS. No local Contacts? Rubbish. Lost VIPs is an initialization problem that's been in every Mail app since ever. They always come back. I'm this biggest hater of Mail, but this report is just wrong. After reading that I wouldn't trust a word he says.

Is this working for RX4? My Logic rescan still says it doesn't validate.

I agree Tom. I've heard so many horror stories about this update and yet the only problem I've experienced is the wonky timecode display in FCPX.
I think Apple-bashing is a very popular sport now and it's sure to generate plenty of clicks for the basher.

In my brief time in El Capital, it felt really nice and the only thing that didn't seem to work was RX4, all other AUs validated. It failed in both FCPX and LPX. Forgot to try it in Digital Performer.

Did that include RX4 and did you get it to work in FCPX also, or only in LPX?BenB wrote: I had to go into LPX, launch the AU Manager, reset/rescan my AU's, then iZotope plugins worked fine. But if you're relying on this to make a living, I'd follow iZotope's official advice, for sure.

For anyone who has updated and who is finding that his system is running much slower on El Capitan (slowdowns were reported especially on 2013 MacPros but also on other systems): repairing your user directory will probably fix this issue. Here's how you can do this: fcpxbook.com/tips/resetting-the-user.html
If you want latest information on ProApps related third-party software compatibility with El Captian, and links to updates that have been posted by third-party vendors, here's a good place to look: www.finalcutprox.guru/support/supportblog/

I think there is a bug in El Capitan whereby TM will crash upon entry if you have multiple displays AND "Displays have separate spaces" unticked in System Preferences -> Mission Control. It has been reported elsewhere.

Thanks for confirming Time Machine is not broken in El Cap. I took advantage of iZotope's upgrade offer yesterday for RX5 because according to their website they will not be supporting RX2 in El Cap.
I'm still holding off El Cap for now, there's no rush but upgrading El Cap is likely inevitable. I utilize AJA's Io XT for SDI tape captures, it is compatible with El Cap now although AJA had listed it un-compatible with El Cap "beta".

Wow I didn't know about this. I'm not a part of the Adobe rental program and am still putzing around on CS6. I also need Encore to work because without it I lose money. I don't think Adobe will ever be updating Encore. I think 10.10.5 will become the Snow Leopard of the future. It'll be the OS a lot of people stay on because too much stuff that we need to work breaks when moving forward.

For the rest CS6 seems to be working fine for some (update Java and clear the Adobe cache files), and not so good for others. There is already quite a ramble going on on the Adobe forums accusing Adobe from having lied to its customers about further supporting CS6 on newer OS'es: forums.adobe.com/thread/1967270
But I'm sure the good people at Adobe are working hard to make their software work with El Capitan. Such things do take time.
