Indeed. The only option would seem to be to compound them, which is not something I want to do.

Exactly.
I think some people might think setting up this kind of associative behaviour might be a bother- but like many things in X, if you do something like this once, it will pay you back every time you have to revisit that edit. Being able to select multiple outs and make a change would definitely be part way there, but requires more clicks in the long run. Here, if you had a keyed character element, a background, and an overlay- set up your Match behaviour, and every change you make is just like you're only changing the one clip. |

Actually you can do a little bit of this now. If you select multiple clips, continuous or not, and then change the duration (control-D) you can add or subtract time for each clip(+ or - and then a value), or set a length for all to match.
This of course effects the out point of the clips. See here: I selected multiple clips and control-D and then entered 5 seconds. Wolah, all clips a 5 seconds. Here selected the clips again but this time entered to trim 2 seconds off each: And the result: |

That's good to know tpayton- I thought CTRL+D was only for absolute duration. I'll be using the +/- for sure.
Though I agree with Dave that what I'm suggesting would probably be faster and more flexible. |

Absolutely. It seems actually a little inconsistent that you can select more than one edge at a time. Also seems like you should be able to select a group of clips and then option-] to trim. |

Humm. So take a look at this, and realize it is only for trimming.
So 3 clips stacked and I want to trim them all to the same length. So without selecting any of them the "ball" is on the top clip so I option - ] So the top clip is trimmed and the ball moves to the second layer: And finally the ball on the lowest clip and again trim. |

I've also heard it referred to as a "puck". That thing has become an incredible time saver to me. Just knowing I don't have to manually select the prominent clip saves me dozens of clicks a day.

Hard to say. Either both this Tuesday now, or separated by a week. I'm still pretty confident 10.1.2 won't "require" the new OSX 10.9.3 update.

The kettle doesn't seem to be boiling yet. Maybe something's wrong with the stove?
Logic's just been updated though. |
