Ja ja ja sorry, maybe I type too fast for my poor english.

The Event viewer: I was thinking in have a navigation bar just below the clip, as in FCP7.

Marks comments: this was a very poor expressions to write about the text we write in the marks. Now you have to open the mark for reading them; it would be nice to make them visible directly in the viewer.

Yes I would love to see some major Motion Updates.

I second your sentiment Seanus. I'd love to see some major updates to Motion. If I had one feature I'd like to see, it would hands down be being able to assign motion blur to individual layers as opposed to the global method that currently exists.

Richard Taylor just mentioned in FCPX FB group lately. That, the next update might be available before June 21st (this year, of course). It's a 3rd year anniversary when Apple launched the FCPX 3 years ago. That's make sense! :woohoo: (Crossed fingers) :cheer:

FCPX 10.1.2 PRE-RELEASE DISCUSSION 02 Jun 2014 01:23 #47111

Apple doesn't typically celebrate anniversaries in regards to the release of software. Let's look at the last 2 years-

1st Anniversary- 10.0.5 (the Retina update released at WWDC 2012) was released on June 11th. Besides Retina support for the new rMBP, the update provided a few bug fixes.

2nd Anniversary- nothing was released in time for June 21st 2013. The previous 10.0.8 update on March 28th provided only minor bug fixes. The following update wasn't released until July 30th. Again, bringing only bug fixes and stability improvements.

So there's no history of Apple giving any significance to the June 21st 2011 anniversary of the FCP X release.

That's not to say it won't happen. Anywhere around June 21st will be the longest interval between releases since FCP X's launch. Tuesday June 17th would be 152 days since 10.1.1. Just past the 148 days between 10.0.9 and 10.1.

As an additional purely circumstantial data point, Larry Jordan has begun promoting a ""Final Cut Pro X - In-Depth and Up-to-Date" course for June 23rd to 25th. This doesn't necessarily mean that there'll be a new version out before then. But Larry has had access to early FCP X betas in the past, so the timing of his "Up-to-Date" course might not be arbitrary.

Possibly. :)

after a busy week of editing, a minor suggestion:

customizable key-board short-cuts to switch btw. UI-layouts

for some tasks, I need Events as list, but no Inspector, nor Effects browser.
for other tasks, I prefer a maximised Preview, and the Color board..
and my editing is a bit 'chaotic', so I switch quiet often btw. those 'settings'/views/layouts.

in terms of speed, a single 'super short cut' which resizes layout AND opens/closes browsers would be handy ..

A few enhancements I’d like to see, forgetting timeline visual organization and roles enhancements, both already spoken here :

- keystroke to select "above" lane, like Shift+C.
For example, hitting C selects clip on primary storyline :

Now hitting SHIFT+C selects above lane:

Hitting SHIFT+C again selects above lane:

And SHIFT+CMD+C could select lane beneath...

- Being able to batch assign roles to component channels from the inspector. Batch assigning roles to separate components is now only possible from the Timeline. I send all my projects to sound mixing with X2Pro, and it would be a gift to see this enhancement.

- An Effects Tab in Timeline Index. Informations about effects are stored in Project XML, and sorted with « Producer’s Best Friend » App. So, this is certainly possible to see an effects list in TL index.
(In Avid, there’s icons on clips to identify which clips have effects applied on)

- I’d like that range selections could be undoable, i.e. stored in undo/redo history.

- And at last an important one : i’d need the trimming infos to be shown even when I’m adjusting my trimming with keyboard only : the viewer two-up display, and the numerical timecode field (for now it’s just appearing when trimming with mouse).

Someone should create a Motion "hit list" of things that could be added/changed. Of course some would find "Send to Motion" an important step.

Some Motion fans got together back in October to share some ideas over in the Motion 5 forum:

I sent my very long list off to Apple back then.

Would love to see much better match framing. It is far too difficult to get back to the original source if you've used a Multicam clip. Also it's a pain in the ass how hitting match frame take you back to the Event and not the keyword collection. Takes ages to figure out where the clip even Isfahan you have hundreds of clips.

I agree with multi cam match framing! But to what keyword collection should FCPX match frame when you have multiple keywords applied to the clip?

Regarding Match framing in general. Yes- more specific only works if the clip only has one keyword applied, or is only in one Smart Collection.

Don't forget that after match-framing a clip, you can click on a Keyword or Smart Collection and that clip will still be the active one.

But yes, multi cam match-framing needs improvement.

And as important from my perspective, is Sync and Multicam clips inheriting metadata attributes from their source clips; including Timecode, Creation Date, Keywords or any other assets.

You can do some of this with Shot Notes X. For sync clips it will put the metadata from the video portion of the sync clip into the sync clip itself.

As Scott Simons once said, the clip could be match framed to the keyword or smart collection you edited from

Meh. I don't remember Apple making any announcements about 10.1 at last year's WWDC and by and large I think the community was pretty happy with it.

A little patience.

ProApps were never going to be part of this event. Never have been, never will.

I was a little surprised there was absolutely no hardware side to the Event. But with Intel behind on their next-generation chips, new Macs were just not going to happen. And all reports dashed hopes of seeing iWatch or new aTV here.

The only thing I had an outside hope for was a 4K cinema display. But I guess they're not ready to announce that yet either.

It was a jam packed presentation, with loads of great stuff, especially for developers- who've been grousing for many years about a lot of the things which were addressed with iOS features and SDK enhancements.

With Apple's ability to do these streamed events on a whim, I continue to hope that maybe we'll see ProApps events when they have something to say.
