FCPX 10.1.0 PRE-RELEASE DISCUSSION

Since we could potentially be on the precipice of a release tomorrow, let's revisit our old friend. At some point in the last year I added release Times as near as I could figure them, based on the first tweets about them popping up on twitter.

The date for 10.1 is presumptive.

Well it's been Tuesday here for more than 12 hours so I say next week.

My best guess for tomorrow (Tuesday here in the states) would be FCPX 10.1 10:30am PST if released by itself. If Mac Pros come tomorrow as well, then I would say both at 5:30am PST.

Agreed. If they're going to take the store offline for the MacPro (and anything else...) they'll probably do it first thing.

After speaking to the local business reps are the Apple retail store, some Apple higher ed reps I know, my various publication editors, etc, I'm guessing Dec 10th. But no one will know until it is released. Apple hasn't scheduled any media events for Dec, so I think it'll just show up in the store one morning.

After looking at the interval between OS X.0 releases and OS X.1 releases, they typically are a few days shorter than a month. OS X 10.9 was released on October 22nd so 10.9.1 is well overdue.

It is obvious that the new Mac Pro will ship with 10.9.1 so I expect that we will see it tomorrow. Though, this is Apple - anything goes.

I'm hoping this is treated like OS X 10.1 - A free upgrade to those that purchased 10.0. However, if it is a paid upgrade, the features included will be worth it.

I'm going to get lynched for this, but: I'm hoping for next week.

I'm right at the end of a documentary project, a day or two away from delivery. 400 clips in a 30-minute storyline. The last thing I need right now is a major upgrade to FCPX. :dry:

[Note to the wise/those in similar positions: disabled automatic updates from the App Store, just in case 10.1 is free. System Preferences → App Store.]

Pretty sure there isn't a law that says you 'have' to upgrade.
You could just let the rest of us upgrade test for a week while you finish your project :woohoo:

Ah, now I feel better. I very much want to explore the new version, but now really isn't a good time to experiment. I'll magnanimously let the rest of you dive in and get burned first.

Maybe I'll wait for 10.9.1. :evil:

This is why I'm glad I have a second machine. I won't be able to jump over immediately either, but I can still install it on my 17"MBP and poke around.

Apple (aka Filemaker) just now released Filemaker 13 so maybe there is more in store for today.

Let's not forget it's only just after 8am Pacfic time.
