I've trashed my preferences for Compressor and FCPX, now what?

Launch FCP X and Motion again, new pref files are created automatically by the app from scratch with factory defaults. Then you'll know if the problem was corrupted pref files or not.

If by Motion, you mean Compressor, then alright!

I'm honestly considering going over to FCP 7.

Yeah, many of us are running them side by side. There's some stuff I still have to do with Final Cut Studio, but what I can do in FCP X works great. It is very buggy, and we're hoping Apple does a major bug update really, really soon.

This IS an issue with Compressor. Let me say that again this is an issue with Compressor! Specifically with CompressorKit.bundle that Compressor installs INSIDE of FCP X.

I posted this fix to you a few weeks ago, did you try it? I spoke with a Genius at my local Apple Store about your issue and they said to please call Apple regarding this.

Another fellow on this thread who had this problem didn't actually own FCP X. He was just on a MacMini he purchased second hand, therefore he wasn't able to redownload and fix. Did you actually purchase your FCP X?

Here is the fix again:

1. Copy FCP X and Compressor onto an external drive.
2. Throw FCP X and Compressor in the trash and empty trash.
3. Redownload FCP X and Compressor from the Mac App Store (there won't be a charge, just make sure you use the same Apple ID you used to purchase it).
4. Goto lunch while downloading and think of how good it will be to have the share menu.
5. After downloading, don't launch FCP X or Compressor! First back those up to a external drive of some kind.
6. Launch FCP X and confirm that the share menu is available.
7. Then launch Compressor and it will install itself inside of FCP X.
8. Hopefully the share menu will be present. If not of course something else is wrong and post here again.

Looks like were just handed some kindness by Apple. A 30 day trial of FCP X

I think if you remove all your current apps, then the trial should work well and you can at least export your project. Then if it works for you, fork over the $300 for FCP X!

Well...my copy of Final Cut is not working too. After the upgrade the Share meny stoped working ...will try to remove using FCP Remover ...

I would call Apple first. They will help you get it figured out.

I have a project finished and Cant export !!! I uninstall FCPX 3x . Installed again and nothing...

The other folks who have had this problem didn't have legit copies of FCP X. Apple will have a fix for you I'm sure.

It's a version 1, an all version 1 apps have bugs.

Verify you're logged in as the same person as the iTunes account the app was purchased under. In fact, open iTunes, go to the Store menu. Select Authorize This Computer and see if that helps.

Only times I've seen Share disabled, is bootlegs copies, and Macs running on a network using Open Directory, cause then it's not recognized as an authorized computer.

Well...I must confess I was running a pirate copy of FCPX for about 1 month. I needed to be pretty sure before commit this much money ...

A couple of minutes ago I decided to buy it 'cos I learned to love the program in the last month.
I ll buy the Compressor as well . And probably Motion ...

Hope this will fix this problem .

First, I said I could not spend a lot of money without knowing if the program was worthy. FCPX has received so many complains I was afraid.

And, in the final I did a honest move. I bought the program. In fact , I move myself to Apple plataform to stay away from piracy.
Sometimes you need to be honest and say something like I did, to put your face in your avatar like I did , to recognize your wrong behavior like I did.

Today I have an Iphone 4, Ipod Touch and Ipad . All with legal apps. Not a single one from others sources like "installous".

I dont expect , better , I dont want any applause for my attitude. I did the right thing.
I was not encouraging people to do piracy at any point. Not here or elsewhere (Twitter , etc)...

I am an Apple user as you are . My FCP X plugins were already legal .

Labalbi - Thanks for fessing up. I know you didn't think it was a big deal what you did. But really doesn't everyone think what THEY do is not a problem.

I am glad to hear that you have a conscience and listened to it. But I think you also have to realize that partially "repenting" of your lies and theft, and then purchasing FCP X doesn't somehow make everything right.

You claimed you didn't lie. Really? Really? Listen to your conscience. You came to this board and asked for help for the FCP.co community for something that you didn't own. You are not a part of the community, you just pretended to be. i.e. you lied. You continued to dig a hole for yourself when you didn't respond to my call for you to call Apple.

Also what you don't know is that BenB and I both spent considerable time with the last two guys on this topic ( I even went to the Apple store on one guys behalf, and the other fellow I screened shared with for over an hour trying to resolve the problem) only to find out they too had pirated FCP X. That fellows confession and our rebuke was removed from this topic because the site owner didn't want to condone piracy, and we didn't want to publicly throw that guy under the bus (although admittedly I am throwing you under the bus now.)

Dude. Admit you were wrong and stop it. Then share what you are learning in FCP X with the rest of us. Put on your forum signature "Piracy is wrong." or something like that.

Then think about the fact that your little indiscretion of pirating software and asking for support has made you an enemy of a few people on this planet, and frankly we don't even know you. Why don't you take inventory of your life and think about everyone else you have lied and stolen from. Maybe you've got some more repenting to do.

BTW. Just so you don't think I am on some moral high ground. I too have pirated software in the past. Lied to not just other folks on the net, but to my own family and even my wife. I'm guilty too.

And I did not respond "to your call, Mr. Very Important" because it was an really bad advice. Call to Apple ? See if my imac has power , as well ? I wish to have better answer than the obvious call the support. Thats why I am here , in a specific forum , to get help and help others .

And yes . My case is a great propaganda against piracy as anyone can see.
