I installed High Sierra a couple of days ago and I haven't had any problems yet. My main reason for moving from Sierra was because of HS's ability to handle HEVC -- I recently purchased a GoPro Hero6 and at 4K/60fps HEVC is the only option. I know I could use other resolution/frame rate combinations, but I figured that I'd like to get the most out of the camera. I have planned an escape route, including a clone of my system with Sierra, a Time Machine backup, and an installer of Sierra on a thumb drive. But so far so good!

I was able to import and edit 4K/60fps HEVC footage in both FCPX and iMovie, and plugins like Lock and Load's Lens Undistort and LUT Utility seem to work just fine.

After a clean install of High Sierra 10.13.2 on MacPro 6.1 6-core,
FCP X 10.4 has problems with AVCHD material imported from several Panasonic cameras. Everything 50i and in FC 25p.
After a few seconds in timeline there will be dropped frames and also on exported films.
Tried FCP X 10.3.4 and everything is fine.
Also bootet from OS 10.12.6 and updated FCP X to 10.4.
No trouble.
Tried Berta 3 of HS.
Same problems.

Have you manually set your project to 25p?

I would not put much worry into dropped frames. All computers will drop frames in some situation or another. If you're getting smooth enough playback for editing, that's all that matters. I've left the dropped frame warnings turned off on all my systems since FCP was first released. It's more a reflection on your hard drive than anything else. Just my two cents.

I am filming live performances of jazz music mostly and this looks as if the artist is spastic or so.
Since I get paid for my work, I should worry a lot about this.

I tried to answer Karsten about his last answer but it did not work.
Maybe this time.
Yes I manually changed project settings to 25p.

"Since I get paid for my work, I should worry a lot about this."

I get paid for my work, I ignore it, I turn off the dropped frames warnings, don't do me any good.

Because what you're seeing is only a playback issue, it will export playing just fine. If it is too choppy to edit, then use proxy media.

The clamshell is back! With the release of 10.13.3, FXPX and Motion finally operate without issue on my late 2016 Touch Bar 15" MacBook Pro. Clamshell worked without issue with FCPX and Motion on Sierra. On my late 2016 Touch Bar 13" MPB, there applications always worked in clamshell. But the 15" machine does the heavier lifting. One more issue with High Sierra is at least for me, resolved.

Thank you, Apple.

Hi guys! I need help.
I actively use Logic Pro X and I installed FCPX 10.4
But I can't launch FCPX "Validation Audio Unit".

Attachment 2018-02-270.31.18.png not found

What are the options in resolving this problem?

P.S.: Earlier I've done connected to macOS El Capitan + Logic Pro X + FCPX 10.3 - that's worked out so well.
OS 10.13.3
FCPX 10.4

Open Logic. Check for unvalidated AU plugins in plugin manager and delete or update them.

The first time you run FCPX it will attempt to validate all audio units on your system. It may take several minutes if you have a lot of them, but once it determines that they are all compatible then the app should load. If it stays on that screen for a very long time, then likely one of your audio plugins needs to be updated to work with that version of FCPX. In that case, you should check with the 3rd party supplier for any updates, or you can try removing some audio plugins one at a time to see if you can find a culprit. As I recall, FCPX may indicate which AU plugin is problematic if it ever completes the validation routine. If all else fails and it never comes out of that screen, force quit FCPX and restart it by holding the Command and Option keys down to trash FCPX preferences.

Since installing High Sierra, I've run into the same AU validation issue. 'com.apple.audio.InfoHelper' crashes every time I launch FCPX, and after dealing with the crash, Final Cut reports varying audio units to be invalid (sometimes none, sometimes up to 5). I don't have Logic, and only limited 3rd party audio plugins. I ran FCPX 10.4 in Sierra without issue, so am puzzled by this problem - invariably, the audio units being shown as invalid are Apple's own. These show up under 'OS X' in the Effects browser. I've tried trashing the InfoHelper pref to force a full re-scan, I've run Digital Rebellion's 'Plugin Manager' which has an AU validation tool (everything OK there), I've tried uninstalling / reinstalling FCPX, performed every maintenance routine I can think of, and am getting tired of the crashes.

Here's what I'd do at this point in time. Get "FCS Remover" from Digital Rebellion (free) and use it to remove FCPX totally. Won't touch your plugins or media or Libraries. Then run Disk Utility's First Aid. Reboot, reinstall FCPX from scratch.

I'll give it a go, but I'm not too optimistic at this point. I'll also note that GarageBand caused the helper crash, but only during one launch. Nothing else was running at the time. Stand by for status update...

UPDATE: After removing FCPX with FCS Remover, rebooting into Recovery and running Disk Utility, and reinstalling FCPX, the problem persists. Dang.

I do know that it has something to do with my user account - the process behaves when I'm logged into another account. Same software versions on my laptop and iMac (apps, OS, everything) and no crashes there either.

To be clear, it isn't Final Cut that's crashing. It's com.apple.audio.InfoHelper running from the System folder.

UPDATE #2: After disabling the Focusrite Scarlett AU suite, the crashes have stopped. All remaining audio units functioning perfectly. 'com.apple.audio.InfoHelper' is now happy (and so am I).

And you're welcome, Šērg.pêrrø!
