I've no insider info or anything, a total guess, but I've had a feeling for a while the next update will be a major one for either the colour board or audio areas (not both) and it'll even be 10.2. When it'll finally drop however ... though around same time as last year would be nice, so I've finished all major projects and before I get into next years so I can upgrade safely and play around with it!

Since nothing happened shortly after the Yosemite-Update my guess now is that there won't be a FCPX update until Apple new Photos App launches next year. No doubt FCPX must also be updated to benefit from that new Application... But that's just a guess...

There's a Pro Video Formats update now which adds native MXF import and Export!

Hmmm. These have typically come with App updates, haven't they?

10.1.4 is apparently about to be release- with stability improvements and MXF support.

Philip Hodgets has the rundown-

I was able to download 10.1.4 by trashing FCP X, then going to my purchases.

Interestingly enough, this is the first update in a while that doesn't update the projects. (Now libraries)

I agree it seems somewhat less than what I was expecting given the time span since the last update, why are we not more vocal on social media about this? We all sigh and comment, but yet social media, the driver of change is silent in terms of FCP x development?

Um... this forum IS social media. How many folks in the world do you think edit video and film for a living? The majority? NO! Seriously...

Hmm.
For some editors the MXF handling is a some hundreds bucks worth christmas gift.
Remember the times where EOLed mxf4mac was a quite pricy but essential plugin.

So what if now mxf4mac is part of FCP X?

A fellow trainer told me if you install the Pro Apps update, 10.1.3 will import/export MXF files. So it is not strictly a 10.1.4 update, but an OS X update for all pro apps, and third party apps, to take advantage of. 10.1.4 is mostly a bug fix with handles for the OS X's new ability to handle the MXF wrapper. But still...
