Are there other ways events are useful in this file management plan?
hmm. We need to start a Library workflow thread.

The update projects folder/library, a half completed update, to me Apple rushed again, not the first time they caved into public pressure, remember 10.0.0??

A lot of time has been spent under the hood of FCPX optimizing stability, speed and media management, and on improving existing features. This is a good thing as it has an effect on everyone using the app, which is more important than some extra bells and whistles that only a few people ask for. Now the team can concentrate on adding new features, and these are easier to implement once you have a solid base to work on. So I expect from now on we will see more regular updates again, including feature updates. Past experience has shown that any new feature added to FCPX works better than in any other NLE. I hope they take their time so they can continue this trend. Any update is incomplete until a software is perfect. And there is no such thing as a perfect software

No, dual GPU is for the new Mac Pro only.

The option to enable/disable a scrolling playhead feature would be very useful (via a button and keyboard shortcut). I would like to have the option but a quick pause/play is effective in locating current position too.

It makes sense to me to have a large number of options in the prefernces, this allows the software to be tailored to the user.
Am I wrong in thinking this?

Well, suppose you have a 1 hour shoot that you're editing, and almost every camera moves at some point during that time, so it's not even a static shot with just the odd bump.
Do you rally want to stabilise (say) 6 or 7 cameras for an entire hour just for a 5 second shot here and an 8 second shot there?
If the multi cam hasn't been topped and tailed you can just about work out the timecode positioning, but if it has been topped and tailed then things don't match up at all, so it's pretty hard to find this 5 seconds within the 1 hour shoot and is much quicker to export/import/overlay.
if you have a better / faster way I'm all ears
My workaround:
1. In your main timeline, go to the clip that needs stabilization, shift+f to locate clip in the event browser, this will highlight your range in your multicam clip
2. Cmd+1 to go to event browser window, with snapping on, hover cursor over the in/out points for timecodes & remember them.
3. Double click the multicam clip in the event browser to open it in Angle Editor.
4. In Angle Editor, press Control+P to type in the remembered timecodes (one for in point & another for out point).
5. Blade that section of the clip, then apply stabilization.
6. Repeat for the tail end of the clip.
Works fast when you get used to it, along with keyboard shortcuts. I've used this workflow on several multicam projects for many 5-10 sec shots.
I hope this helps and good luck.

Justine,
Apple likes simple and many pref options goes against their vision. There are other NLEs in the market that have all the buttons, knobs, pref options that other editors crave. FCPX allows editors to create without having to worry about all that, which is the reason why I moved from Adobe. Remember, film was cut with scissors and taped together and editors then created beautiful motion pictures so we are all spoiled with what we have today. Once you get over all the initial challenge and learning curve, I believe you will love FCPX. When I first launched Premiere I was bombarded with options that made my head spin.
I like Apple's vision with keeping everything simple...from their hardware to software. Anyway, just my 2 cents.

That's a 27" Thunderbolt Display that they launched in 0 7/20/11.

- Those that know don't tell, and those that tell don't know.
No autosave vault. I like snapshots, but it is not really the same thing. Over the last two years I have had 4 projects get corrupted and was not able to recover just using the previous version (which was corrupted too). I managed to more or less salvage three of them, but one of my editors lost over a week of work outright. I know that there are third party apps for this. I tried one and it created way more trouble than it was worth. This seems like a core responsibility of a pro app and needs to be added back in.
No round trip to motion. Ironically, I use Motion more since they killed Send To Motion, but that just makes me want it more. I love making my own plugins, but sometimes I want to do a complex composite or animation.
There are a lot of other features I was hoping for, but those were my big disappointments. I'm excited about the new software, but to me it was a little anticlimactic. If I was getting a new Mac Pro to go with it, I'm sure I'd see things differently though.

Is there a scrolling timeline in 10.1?
I hate when the timeline jumps into random places while zooming in and out and the playhead gets lost.
Greetings,
Marko
