Where do you see that it works with FCPX? The website only shows compatibility with FCP7 and earlier.

EDIT: Nevermind...I see there's a test version available.

Yes, If you buy fcp7 license it will work. It is still a test (beta) and works fine for me. I just upgraded from the home version to pro a few weeks ago and it works great.

There is a FCPX test version?
I am assuming you have to have FCP7 to use it?

I've send them a email with the question of I can get a demo version for FCPX.

@Scrubelicious : No you don't have to have FCP7 to use the plugin ... when you have paid your plugin, you go to the download page and you can get the FCP7/Motion5 version (3.2 i think) and/or the version let's say 3.2.1 which is in beta 2, for use with FCPX (which works perfectly for me)

@Frankly : there is a demo available already on their website, just go there and choose your version :

I saw that but I only see the
Final Cut Pro 7 / 6, Motion 5 / 4 / 3, Final Cut Express 4; Intel
Final Cut Pro 7 / 6, Motion 4 / 3, Final Cut Express 4; PPC

Unless it is in the installer from Final Cut Pro 7 or Motion 5

I rarely use denoise, since I rarely have noisy clips to work with. They guy who shoots most of what I work with is really good. But does anyone have a noisy clip I could get a copy of to test something out with?

Ben, I have a few clips from an intro to an indie film that have some noise in the sky. These would be good to test with. Let me know if you want me to email them.....PS...check your PM's.

It's not much, but since it's simple beta testing, there's not much I'm honestly able to say. But I will say, this will be the single most important plugin collection any FCP X / Motion 5 user could spend money on.

I definitely understand you can't speak of details here, but are you able to say if the core melt one is on par with neat video's plugin? Also... would you happen to know if this would be included in their complete package upon release?

I don't have a need for a denoiser at the moment, but I finished a video at the beginning of the month (of April) and that one definitely could have benefited from a denoiser since it was shot in such low light. Right now, I'm simply trying to research as much as possible before making a choice.

Any news on this?

I sent them an email and I was able to confirm what's already been said here, which is buying the FCP7 version gives access to the beta version, and that the update will be a free update.

I still would love to give this a try first if it's available.

It's not in beta any more, it's been shipping for quite some time now. They have free trial.

I'll ad to the kudos for Neat Video in X. Absolutely saved the day on a large project where a lot of the footage had inadvertent gain. Does a fantastic job - it's processor intensive though, so I recommend turning Skimming off when you apply it. With Skimming on it can crash (or seem to crash, actually it just slows down to a crawl) as it tries to play unrendered frames. One of the most useful plugins there is IMHO.

Whats the workflow with Neat Video in FCPX?
Do you apply the denoise effect first inside X and then render (or export and reimport)?
Color grade after denoising?

You apply the effect to a clip. Then in the inspector open the effect, which brings up a new window separate to X's interface where you make adjustments. You then can either automatically profile the clip (which I used) or manually denoise. Auto works fine - though you sometimes have to specify the area it samples if it gets it wrong. Once you've done that, you can (if needed) apply sharpening - this is also excellent and works very well. Once you're happy, exit by applying the filter and render. I grade before or after - it seems to make no difference, though grading before has the advantage of realtime preview whereas Neat needs rendering. It seems like a long-winded process when written, but in reality I can do a clip in maybe 20 seconds. I do tend to leave it to the very end though, as any reworking of the clip requires a render.

Well after talking to our man for testing we won't be looking at neat as fcpx solution, since there is no demonorma test version.
That sucks but we still have other denoiser that work great.
