Just reading this is making my palms sweat
My MacBooks hd is full from gopro footage. FCpX is/was almost unusable. (not enough space to transcode my 1080 footage, which was playing back 'twitchy')
A search brought me here because I'm about to fix the problem by loading up my newly received 3TB external hd by a thunderbolt cable.
My hope is to keep my entire Event & Project Library, all gopro footage on my internal drive, just on the external from here on out.
I think I'll be hanging around here for a bit, I have some reading to do. Sorry if this detracted from the topic, this is all foreign to me.

Mavericks requires DHX2 authentication for any connected drives. Most manufacturers have already updated their drivers for Mavericks. Make sure to check if there are any driver updates available for the type of drive you are using.
