If it is during rendering it crash, finish FCPX, move the trouble project or all projects out of the projects folder. Start FCPX then go to preferences and turn of the background rendering finish FCPX. Put your project or projects back in the projects folder and then open your project again and you will be able to delete the plugins from your clip that causing you trouble. Manual rendering and shortcuts you will find under "Modify" . This is a method I have used when projects been crashing and I have had difficulties to find why. By manual rendering clip by clip, at least those i put some filters etc on, I could find out which one that caused the crashes. Hope that will help.

Depending on what package (standalone or plugin bundle) you have you will need to download the correct installer.

Choose the proper installer from this site:
www.tiffensoftware.com/products/dfxv3-fr...free-trial-downloads

I have the film and video plugin bundle for FCPX and Photoshop. With the latest installer, you will have the option to update both or just FCPX. It defaults to updating only FCPX as there is no change in the Photoshop plugin package.

There is no deactivation required if you are already using a licensed version of the plugin. DFX3 will install over the older version, remove what it doesn't need and update the package. Upon completion, my bundle remained fully licensed and now all the effects that were making FCPX crash are now working fine.

I can't speak to the process of updating a standalone version of DFX3 since that is not what I have, but I would expect it to work similar. If you have any problems, open up a Tiffen tech support ticket from their web site. They are excellent at responding to your needs.

Hope this helps.

I don't know about Neat video, but it's starting to appear that there is a pattern here with "green" flashes showing when rendering many different effects from different 3rd party companies. So, that may seem to indicate something that Apple is going to have to addresses themselves.

I don't use Neat Video but I try to keep up to date on their forum with issues. They have acknowledged some problems with 10.0.6 which I believe is affecting different users in different ways based on their system configurations. They are promising a fix.

Another thing is INSANELY long render times. I just bought the Neat Video plugin right after i updated to 10.0.6 so i just assumed thats how it was, but apparently its another thing that is going wrong with 10.0.6....

I love the update though, hope theres a fix to these little annoyances soon!

I purchased CrumplePop SplitScreen X the other day and am just now getting around to using it, or trying to use it. It seems to be half broke, or crashes X. Either Apple did some huge changes in the way effects work causing many if not most 3rd party plugins to have problems. I wish we could get the story on what's going on here. I've purchased quite a bit of plugins since the release of FCPX 10.0.6 and it's quite frustrating when I find they don't work, or crash X.

Surely I'm not the only one having these problems with most effects/plugins? I wouldn't doubt that we wouldn't soon see a maintenance release from Apple to fix the issues with FCPX. There are just too many 3rd party plugins having issues it seems for it to be their problem.

I wouldn't hold your breath, Ron. I think the developers are going to have to provide the fix. Besides, there are still several hundred effects and transitions that work perfectly fine in 10.0.6. The only ones I am aware of having issues are MBL2 with minor quirks and your CrumplePop issue. A few of the Noise Industries apparently don't work, but my entire collection except for MBL2 is humming along fine.

Yep, you're probably right Dan. If the majority of plugins aren't having problems, then it only makes sense it's the 3rd party plugins that were using some type of workaround before the release of 10.0.6 but now that Apple has fixed the original bugs, these 3rd party plugins now need to change things back around. Im specifically referring to MB Looks. I remember reading some history about that. Then you have the new guys on the block like CrumplePop that have to learn what the old timers already knew.

A general tip to everyone. If you have the Matrox MXO mini drivers installed, then update or remove them EVEN IF YOU AREN'T USING THE MATROX or don't even have it connected.
The older drivers can cause render glitches in third party plugins, ours and others.

Matrox has released beta drivers for 10.0.6 here:

What about Magic Bullet Looks? Red Giant website says no. "As we posted earlier, we are aware of the issues with both Magic Bullet Looks 2.0 and Magic Bullet Mojo and the FCPX 10.0.6 update. We are working with Apple to determine the root cause and will provide you with a fix as soon as we have it! Some bugs are obvious and easy, and some require a bit more investigation – we’re doing what we can to get this one resolved!"

I haven't used it as I don't want to crash my system. Any one have real-world results?

Real-world results is that it produces green upside-down glitches. See this thread on MBL.

Ron is correct. Stay away from MBL until they release a fix. Last time there was a problem (10.0.5 update caused vertical flipped images) the fix came fast. Red Giant is good at this.

Will do. (Although MB Looks' Cosmo effect is part of my everyday toolbox--especially when cutting female interviews).

BTW and off-topic, Core Melt's new Slice X works great in .06 and is a great little plug-in.
