All solution I've found includes signing up for a monthly plan. I don't need it often enough to do that, so maybe some solution where you can pay per transfer or something?

I was tipped about this one:
www.myairbridge.com/en/
which seems like a WeTransfer-like site that lets you send 20gb free. Anyone used it?

20-30GBs upload needs some time.... Or a blazing fast connection ....

Maybe a very smart editor could help with VPN or something like that, from what I have seen, a virtual private network seems like a great concept, I sign into your system, select the files I need, from the folder where the file/files are located and downloaded.
The problem is ADSL, it is mega fast on download, but very very very very very slow on the upload...
Just need something I can understand, that is not needing a PHD from MIT Computer Science Department...I am sure many users here would love a simple app that has a simple interface, for setup, I will pay for the app, that is not the issue...

But what I do now is to have an online Google Drive folder, I upload files on it (not synced with my mac so it does not take local space) and share the links.

The thought I had was to use a VPN, from what I know about VPN, given that my laptop is always on, connected to the wifi, if I need to send, or say to receive a folder/file, then "VPN" to the remote computer and download from there, of course it will take time as ADSL is slower on the uploading, bypassing the need to cloud, dropbox uploading a screengrab can take 10 minutes...
As I see it, there is no app dedicated for VPN access, if such exists, what and how to set it up, Apple has not given this a moment's thought, something so obvious, I guess the selected FCPX reviewers fly 1st class and hand deliver material from camera to editor, and back again...
Why why why why Apple is there no app? Surely this is obvious!!!

Why it is not, I blame the Ripple Twins..They are intelligent enough, if I can see the problem, why not them???

Investing in a fast connection is what you need. ( 100 Mbps each end being ideal.) If you don't need it often enough to justify the financial outlay on bandwidth then maybe go old school with a memory stick and a courier service? With 30GB or so of data, the file will probably still get there quicker than trying to send across a slow connection, even if it is going halfway around the world

The problem is ADSL, is fast to download, but extremely slow to upload. VPN is safe, as it is a tunnel, and private.
Sneaker net via DHL, again if you are in the above, US to Australia, but here from the arse end of Africa, it is not cheap, I would love to do a download test of 30GB from the US, see just how long it will take, that is full, from the uploading to the downloading on my end, I know a few GB took almost 2 days, so 30 should be about a week-10 days...
A week to 10 days, I could fly to Creative Summit, fly back, and it will still be downloading, as for courier, depends on what you pay, express, my FCPX keyboard took 3 months, stuck in customs from November to February...

System preferences>Network.
Add the Server/network address, then the account name and password and then click connect.
You even get a handy switch in the menu bar to turn the connection on and off if you tick "Show VPN Status in Menu Bar".
The connection will appear in the Finder just like if you were connected to a network locally.
Steve.

Thunderbolt Bridge.
Thunderbolt 2,
Thunderbolt 1,
Bluetooth PAN,
Wi-Fi,
Thunderbolt Firewire,
VPN,
PPPoE
6 to 4.
As long as you have VPN listed you don't need to worry about the rest.
