Got mine yesterday, but wont' be able to set it up yet. We Apple cert'ed trainers have to take a test to re-certify for teaching FCPX 10.1. I'm taking it tonight, and these trainer tests are not that easy. Trainers are tested on info not in the book, unlike the end user tests. So, tomorrow will be my big day.

The biggest problem initially was migration. Migration assistant would not see my old Mac Pro via ethernet connection. So I tried Firewire to Thunderbolt but MA could not see the disks either. I plugged and unplugged with no result. But finally MA could only see my cloned disk but not the primary one. An I could finally migrate from that disk. That disk was Samsung but the primary HD was Western digital. I do not know what caused this but I suspect Mavericks. Anyway my new one is up and running without any problems.

How did you have the cloned disk connected? What OS were you migrating from? I had trouble migrating to my Mac Pro 2006 back in 2006 from my G4 over firewire. Wouldn't see it. I had to remove the hard drive and connect via a PATA to USB connector. I'm wondering if Apple purposely makes it tough for some reason or they just don't know how to properly implement it. When my new Mac Pro arrives in the mid 2020's I will try a Sata to USB 3 dock to migrate from 10.6.8.

I'm going to be taking the opposite tack with my MacPro. I've been taking the easy route and migrating machines for the past few transitions.

When the new baby shows up I think I'm going to take the opportunity to start fresh and loose a lot of unnecessary cruft that's hanging around.

So I'll do a fresh login and then just manually move over things I need like iPhoto and iTunes libraries, and my Mail archive.

I used Migration Assistant with a SATA drive dock, USB 3.0 connection. No issues at all. I've not had MA issues in the past. But then I run Disk Utility and Disk Warrior on everything before and after the process. Up and running just fine. Now to move from my staging area to my studio.

Maybe it was the fact that I was upgrading from Lion and Mac Pro 2006. But it does not matter, all is well now.

I am glad to see people finally starting to get theirs. My hopes of getting the one I ordered 2 or 3 weeks ago before 2020 have improved to 2017!

Did your order make it in while delivery was still listed as March?

My order was placed December 26th and it looks like I'll get it Feb 26th.

MacPro received. Now to decide how to get it going.

I'm still thinking I want as much of a fresh start as possible- so I'm going to avoid the easy route of Migration Assistant. 1 have the 1 TB internal drive, so I don't have to be too thrifty, but I'm going to try to install only applications I use from here forward. So no FCS!

Yeh for me also,
This will be the first Mac sins years which I don't wanted to use the migration.
And now I have, after installing the standaard Programs and FCP-X Motion Comp Aperture iTunes lib and Aperture lib and all my plugins stil have 800 GB free.
Something wanted to do perhaps also with my rMBP, because after migration I have only 30 GB free

That seems a good idea. I had lot of troubles migrating. But now all is well.

Walked into Tekserve in NYC and walked out with stock 6 Core model. No waiting.

Regarding migration, sales person advised against using migration assistant as well. Too much crud would be brought over to the 256GB SSD drive.
