I never know why your so negative MsJustine. I asked about the iPad Pro being used with Motion and you just use it to rant on FCPX AGAIN! Why do you even use the program anymore? As far as the iPad Pro being used to edit video, I don't see it happening because I feel like I would be faster on a computer and more precise. Now having an APP just like Logic Pro X has would certainly be a nice feature. But basic edits on an iPad just doesn't sound like fun. Unless all of the footage can be stored on a website and it works with little lag then I would not venture down that road at all. What I am saying is that the iPad doesn't have to run FCPX, it would just be nice to intertwine it with FCPX. Even then, thats not what I am trying to position at all. My initial post is about iPad with Motion. motion has drawing tools in the program. the iPad Pro draws. it seems like that would be a great tool to put into the iPad Pro. I realize I could built stuff in photoshop or illustrator. But it might be nice to keep the point data and maybe even have some other stuff motion has in its toolbox.

I have a 2nd generation iPad, and I have a WiFi drive to store stuff on for it. I traveled the country since the 1st iPad was released, doing business, running two different businesses off of one iPad, on the road. It does a hell of a lot. The Camera Kit is really handy, too, so I have access to camera card content, and to any USB device that is built to communicate with an iPad.

I can connect my Apogee Quartet, record 4 channels at once, and have a full powered DAW on it ( Auria ).

Video will require a lot more power to do anything beyond iMovie, and editing on such a small screen, geez, my rMBP is tiny enough.

And I can send stuff to my WiFi printer from my iPad already, have been doing so for years.

The iPad is very capable and powerful, but it isn't a full fledge desktop computer yet. Serious video editing has a ways to go with tablets yet. The power and speed simply isn't there yet.

Agreed ... while the iPad isn't perfect, it isn't the useless failure some would have us believe. I personally own four of them and my immediate family has over a half-dozen more.

I have the original iPad (still stuck at iOS 5) and it still rocks ... use it on my night stand as a clock, email viewer, internet browser alarm clock and to watch Netflix as I fall to sleep ... only one 30-pin slot and I've gotten my money's worth of investment out of that device many times over.

I have 2 iPad 3 units I use for my digital portfolios and mobile internet access when working on location. Even have used them to as second-third cameras for multi camera live-stream shoots. Also use them with Eye-fi card in my DSLR's to view. cull, process and export stills right from the sideline or court side for sporting events to meet publication deadlines ... as well as post online galleries as part of news/sports reporting coverage. Again ... big reward for small investment.

Recently purchased a new iPadAir 2 so I can use it with a specialty app that will allow me to switch up to three 1080p ( video sources four or more 720p sources) for live streaming news and sporting events. Just awesome tech to bring to bear that would have cost tens of thousands even a year ago.

Battery power is always been stellar with all the iPads I own. The last thing I would want is more dongles, wires and cards hanging out of my tablets ... why bother with all the 'wireless' tech if all we are going to do is plug in more stuff? Printing from an iPad has always been easy ... even if you don't have a wifi printer ... there are apps that let you send print projects to a laptop/desktop shared printer as well. Easy peasy.

Would I like to be able to edit video using FCP X on a tablet. Sure, why not. But as I said earlier ... we are not there yet. What is holding us back is not the lack of a USB 3 port ... iOS is not ready for such heavy lifting. OS X needs to be ported for touch screen use first.

iOS with Metal could handle it, iMovie and a slew of other (better than iMovie) apps edit video just fine, though simple edits, not too much special effects stuff. It is the physical processing power that isn't here yet.
