Need A Lag Fix
Delete ALL your project and event render files (from within FCPX if you can)
Close your events and projects.
Shut down FCPX
Trash your FCPX prefs.
Restart your computer.
Launch FCPX and try to open your project.
Let us know if it works any better.

Sorry if its a stupid question but how do i delete render files within FCPX...?
When you say close events and projects...do you mean just get back to the project browser and twirl up events?

Then close the event(s) by clicking the disclosure triangle next to the folders so your event browser is blank. (This is not as much of an issue in 10.0.4 as previous versions, but I suggest you do it anyway since your system is a bit light.)
Then close the project, and select the project in the project library to highlight it. Again from the file menu at the top select delete project render files. Again, do ALL.
If FCPX will not let you, or hangs for a long time, spinning beach ball, etc. then this indicates some type of corruption within your project. If this happens, you can manually delete the render files from the finder in both your project and events folder. But only do this if you cannot do it from within FCPX.
If you restart and your project appears to work OK, you will need to re-render anything that requires rendering. Be sure when you start FCPX after trashing the preferences to uncheck "Background Render" in the preferences, as this will reset.
To be safe, you may want to duplicate your project before you do all of this, but chances are you would be duplicating a somewhat corrupt project anyway. If you want to, click to highlight the project in the project library and from the file menu choose duplicate project. Self explanatory from there.
Use preference manager from Digital Rebellion to trash your preferences. It is a free download and will do all the proper files safely.
Good luck.

i was doing that...it just keeps giving that weird URL thing with "fake path" in it...worked fine on all the other pictures I've posted so far in this thread.
That was an HDV...non-altered by FCPX because it won't optimize it any more than it already is.

I don't really know the camera that was shot with, but there is obviously an issue with quality. Looks to me to be really scaled up with resolution loss and quite grainy. HDV 1080i is 1440 x 1080....don't know if you mentioned earlier if you were placing this into a larger timeline, which could account for less quality.
Did restarting FCPX after deleting prefs and render files help with the project at all?
