Out of curiosity which branch of the government and where? They always need recruits.
From what I seen and implemented USA, Asia and EU facility the Mac Pro is the winner.

True but you can't saturate the market with a server like a iPod right.

You are right you are a Pro but I am talking about the high end market. ;)

High end market, a drop in the bucket of the industry as a whole.

I've contracted for local, state, federal, and military facilities.

This is another long thread...but from early on when the posts were discussing Mac Pro's...
Now since I have the major learning curve of FCPX out of the way, My Mac Pro 12 core with SSD's and 48GB plus ATI Radeon 5870HD GPU literally smokes with fcpx...
I use high quality playback, dual monitors, optimized (not proxy) media, all reference waveforms and I have nearly 600 plugins and over 40,000 iTunes songs, etc., etc. It never stutters anymore even with 1080p projects.....So I have no regrets purchasing the newest Mac Pro and wouldn't trade it for anything...(except maybe a 32 core :-)

Creating history....one edit at a time !

Interesting article about how Steve Jobs initially wanted Apple stores to be focused on the creative professional.

Hopefully this is still in Apple's DNA.

Yep, we get multicam, broadcast output, and Apple publicly says there is a 10 year development plan for FCP X, all because Apple will abandon us. Yeah, right...

I'm talking about a new mac pro, as per the thread title, and the rest of the posts in it.

Sorry if that's confusing.

Who said a MacBook Pro is good enough for Final Cut Pro X? Well, yeah, there is that...
Looks like it might see its end soon... we know how rumors are going so here you have it.

It's a 15" laptop with a Thuderbolt port. Who says you can't edit on it?

I suppose with a thunderbolt RAID attached, the only limitations of concern would be the processor cores and the graphics card capability, right? I mean, it may be able to handle the editing, but can it handle the processing and encoding?

I suppose it's time to learn how to take advantage of other computers processors on the network, but wouldn't that pretty much require your other computers to be connected via Ethernet port, which currently aren't on any of the MacBook Airs.

On top of that the Thunderbolt in the current MacBook Air's are slower then on any other Apple device.

But still way quicker than any FW800 port. Apple doesn't plan in six month cycles. They're not building software like FCP and Morion and Logic and not building platforms that will run them. They have never in their almost 30 year history done that.

Correct Apple won't build hardware that won't run there Software as you mention Final Cut Pro, Motion and Logic... right but they have in their 30 years just dropped software and services.

Indeed. It's a very real possibility that essentially one building in Infinite Loop will disappear with one email from Tim Cook. It could happen but I don't think Apple wants to send that message.

in the german apple store the delivery times for the old Mac Pros start to raise to 3 -4 days
- could be a sign that they stop production of those models, and maybe prepare new ones

Well usually when Apple goes silent for an extended period of time it means that they are working on something new.

Remember how people were saying that FCP was to be dropped? Turned out they were totally reinventing the thing.

I predict that this is what is happening to the Mac Pro. It's been nearly two years now.
