FCP 10.6.2 and Compressor 4.6.1 sporadically render frames in wrong order was created by NotReallyMe
After upgrading to the latest version of FCP and Compressor i observer the problem that the videos rendered sporadically have frames in wrong order. E.g. if normal order is frame 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 then in the output video you see frame 1 2 3 4 6 5 6 7 . This bug is not visible in the preview while editing, everything is fine even when walking frame by frame through the video. I have rendered and published over 100 videos by now but never observed this. To get an impression you could lookup this video, starting at time index 25:29 . The glitches happen more often in the later parts of the video. I have fiddled around with different output formats and also used another mac, the result stays the same. Currently i can not publish any more videos because of these errors:

I installed the previous version of FCPX and Compressor and everything is ok again. How to report this serious bug effectively to Apple? With the feedback function you get no ticket to refer to or deliver further information like the one i posted just here.

Undoubtedly you've spent hours on chasing it so this advice is for those that would prefer an 11 second fix for similar glitches.
Frame order 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 but renders out 1 2 3 4 6 5 6 7 or 1 2 3 4 5 6 6 6 7?
Delete that first / out of order offending frame 6, save, move on down the road. The cut frame will never be noticed. Happens too fast for eye to catch and depending upon the scene playing you can often delete multiple contiguous frames before it becomes an obvious problem. 100 previous successful and having a misplaced frame on but one could be a bug or a single occurrence anomaly. I side with anomaly unless it happens more often or can be repeatedly reproduced after which it enters bug territory.

I have also noticed this!
My situation is that I have a Samsung 980 Pro NVMe SSD inside an Acasis enclosure. Thing gets HOT. No matter what format/codec I exported to, I get the wrong ordered frames. So I copied the Library to a USB SSD I have and exported from that. It seems fine, but I have not watched the entire 44 minute program yet to fully verify this. I have since added more thermal padding to the Acasis and it now rests on top of my Mac Studio, and it's MUCH cooler as a result so we'll see how it does int he future.
Your post makes me think that it may be a software error, though.

Oh yes it would. It may not be noticed by you and most other people, but there are plenty of others who would certainly notice, even at 60fps.VTC wrote: The cut frame will never be noticed.

The error frames are easy to see, but too much to correct them manually. Please watch the video i provided from the time index on that i mentioned. When i have to remove frames manually in a 30 minute video in FCPX then i have to render it again with a big chance of new glitches, this game could go on forever. It would be really great to find a way to let Apple know about this bug so they can fix it and we can use this program again without fearing to publish videos with these kind of errors in it.

I assume you're seeing this on the exported file. What are the specs of the export? Is this on only in videos of approximately this length?

I need to clarify the deleting the offending frame concept in that you don't run it through FCP again but do so outside of Final cut.
I use Quicktime Player 7 for this. No need to re-export another version or shove back into FCP which gave you the problems to start with. Happens immediately. The beauty of QT7 is all sorts of things can be manipulated once and for all and NEVER have to round trip back into FC to do them. In this example a single video can have 3 unique narration and 2 unique music tracks (and even different video tracks) instead of maybe 8 separate video. Simply delete or silence the ones you don't want and be done with it. (Re: the QT graphic)

Anyone else catch this video apps bug patch affecting iMovie, FCP, Compressor, & Motion?
Apple posted updates to its various video apps for macOS to patch an odd bug:
Fixes an issue where video frames may be out of order during playback or export.

That fix was partially the result of a lot of work done by users on this forum. Based partially on that, my own tests and work by plugin developers, I filed the detailed scenario in Apple's bug tracking database which led to the fix: fcp.co/forum/4-final-cut-pro-x-fcpx/3687...-frames-out-of-order
It was a serious problem and Apple did an outstanding job of rapidly producing a fix. All the work by people on this forum contributed to that.
