10.6.2 and Custom Sounds

Mac mid-2017.All my files are in the proper place.I place an alias of the folder as seen in the screen grab.It did work for quite some time and then all the alphabetical order disappeared.

On my Mac Studio with latest everything (system, FCP etc) I'm not seeing .wav files when placed in the FCP Sound Effects folder. Just changing the file ending to .caf fixed it for me as well.

I have a fair amount of duplicates though, same as on my old computer, which is weird as I did a clean install... seems to be mostly iMovie sounds though. Where do those live? Have been trying to find them with no luck...

EDIT: ok, so inside the iMovie app itself (show package contents) there is one folder called iLife Sound Effects which is organised similar to the Final Cut Sound Effects folder. Then there's another folder called iMovie Sound Effects which contains a bunch of the same sounds as in the iLife folder but with no organisation. Wonder if it's safe to remove that folder? or at least its contents? Those duplicates have been bugging me for years now! 🙃

At our school, we have dozens of sound libraries with thousands of sound effects in them. So, the thought of having to rename wav files to caf, is horrifying. Plus, that can't be the only issue, as some of our libraries (which always showed up, just aren't showing up at all.

On thing I noticed, it always used to take about a minute for the library to open in FCP. But, in this new version, that first open took several minutes. And, now every open after that is happening in seconds. As, if it somehow cached the information. I wonder if that is contributing to the problem/bug in some way.
