Video & Audio synching question

Ok, did some testing and here's my results. Not as straight forward as I had hoped....

1. PS4 -> Onkyo A/V receiver -> TV. In the Onkyo settings, A/V sync was set to 50ms. I changed to 0 but this had no effect. This is because my PS4 is hooked up to the Aux input and the A/V setting is written to affect the DVR and VCR inputs only. My 60fps blu-ray with audio moved 1.60 frames earlier was perfectly in synch regardless of this setting.

2. Sony blu-ray player -> TV. My 60fps blu-ray with audio moved backward 1.60 frames was again, perfectly in synch. The only common factor here are that both blu-ray players are made by Sony.

I guess the next step would be to try it on a non-sony blu-ray player, though i don't know if I know anyone with that

Back to being confused again!!

The "tick" in FCPX is called a subframe. 80 of them per frame as noted and you can turn them on in FCPX preferences to have them display in the time code window.

tic, tick, sub-frame, sample, it's just a measurement of audio, we all get it.

But the OP may not have known where and how to have them display.
