Anchor Points don't anchor in video keyframing

I noticed that keyframes are wonky since the last couple of updates. What I told you to do was off the top of my head without a system in front of me. It should have worked. What you want to do is pretty straightforward and as soon as I have a system in front of me I will answer your question once and for all hopefully tomorrow.

Thank you . . . and if you are successful, and describe it as well as the last description, I'll have no problem duplicating it.

Also, if you're successful and it's something I've done unsuccessfully, I'll delete my preferences.

Or, 3rd choice, you are unsuccessful in all attempts as I have been, I'll stick to dragging the arrow/object and write to Apple, as it is either a bug or a feature request of mine for a desired behavior.

Many thx!

Adding the second keyframe by clicking on the button is incorrect. The second keyframe is created automatically, If you click the keyframe button you'll remove the keyframe as you'll see in the video I'm uploading. You add the first keyframe with the button. You go to the second position, the keyframe is added automatically. You go forward one frame add a keyframe by clicking the keyframe button. You go to the third position and the keyframe is added automatically. Repeat. The video I'm uploading shows the process twice, included what you showed in your video. It shows you how to move forward one frame and how to add the additional keyframe. This file is about 245MB. It can be downloaded here we.tl/OPudmr50c8

Thx Tom!

All seems to be working well as seen in this video:

Thank you all for your patience!

It seems a little counter-intuitive that I have to move forward a frame and add a keyframe to lock in the Y-Axis Keyframe. I see no visible change in the inspector when I do this.

In other words the Y-Axis number is the same number before and after moving forward one frame and setting the Y-Axis.

Is there any discernible difference in the the inspector you can see before and after the moving forward one frame?

Thx ahead of time.

There shouldn't be.

There is another way to do this. When you go to the second keyframe position, change the X value, and change the Y value as well, and then change the Y value back. Do not use Cmd-Z. By changing both X and Y you force a keyframe both parameters, not just the X parameter. If you do that there is no need for the the keyframe one frame later. Whichever's easier. Probably the extra keyframe so you don't have to futz with the Y value.

Thx for the workaround Tom, and yes, moving forward one more keyframe seems easier.

However, I still contend that FCPX, by putting in an on/off toggle switch in preferences, which would lock in the X and Y axises when moved without having to move forward on extra frame, would make our workflow much more efficient.

It is very seldom when I set a keyframe that I want it to move vertically or horizontally relative to the next keyframe to be set . . . rather I'd like it locked in and if it were to be moved, I would do so myself upon further inspection and playback.

Thanks again, it's a vast program!

I'm dragging the points in the Viewer. Works just fine for me. It seems as though you're somehow grading several points at once.

Plus, the Anchor Point parameter shouldn't even come into the equation at all.

Yes, I do this a lot, and never have these issues. Something you're doing is not correct, just no clue what that is.

Hi Ben,

Dragging the points works for me also, it does pretty much the same thing as moving the play head forward one frame and then setting the Y-axis in the inspector.

The only thing I don't like about that method is I have to shift/click all the keyframes in the Viewer Window and right-click them to make the movement "linear" as opposed to "smooth".

(Another feature request I'd like to see as a toggle in preferences is to make all keyframes linear as they're created.)

It's good to know that I can use that method as an alternative and if I'm only making a couple of keyframes is is most likely the quickest method!
