For what it's worth I can repro the problem in 10.2.1.

You want it even funnier, the scrubbing in the gap clip at the head of the project is in the very first version of FCP.

Well I'm just glad I'm not the only one, so thanks guys. Already reported to Apple, so let's see how long it takes! :)

Haven't updated my MBP yet, and it does NOT do this at all. Tried and tried, won't do it.

With the skimmer, a few frames before the start of the audio in the gap clip.

Just a note, when scrubbing FCPX appears to play more than one frame of audio, to test this, zoom in far enough to see individual frames and then listen to the difference in sound between the arrow keys and skimming 1 frame a a time. I always assumed this was a feature to give you a better idea of your audio when you are skimming, I'm on 10.2.2, not sure how long its been this way because i only recently noticed this but its been this way for me since at least 10.2.1. for what its worth if i insert a gap clip in a project and advance frame by frame acrose it with the arrow keys (or JKL) the audio starts and stops exactly where it's supposed to.

hope this helps,
-Mark

I have this exact same problem. Reported to apple, and sent a note over to Larry Jordan on the matter as well. Really hope this problem gets fixed, as it's making it very difficult to edit. However, the workaround in the meantime seems to just put the gap clip in the beginning to sort of cover up the problem and allow me to edit.

How this problem slipped by the testers is beyond me

Don't get how your solution of the gap clip at the head fixes this. It causes the problem for me.

I started having this problem out of the blue few days ago.

I worked in Motion for a while and this bug was immediately apparent after returning to FCPX and it's driving me nuts.

Has anyone found a solution?

FCPX has been rock solid for years and this bug single handedly demolished my editing productivity.

FCPX 10.2.3
Motion 5.2.3
Macbook Pro Retina 15" mid-2012

Filed bug report to Apple.
