I can hear audio moving frame to frame when not over audio track
Trying to find exact beginning frame of a song, but if I keep moving left one frame at a time, I can still hear the audio, yet I've already gone past the beginning of the waveforms, and if I press play, it is silent till it hits the waveforms (where the song does indeed play!).
It seems to add an extra second to the beginning - but only when moving playhead frame by frame, you continue to hear audio, even though you know you've gone past beginning of song - press play, and as I said, it is silent instead till playhead gets to waveforms!!
I now cannot sync beginning of song to footage exactly, and am going to have to do it by trial and error!!
They fix one thing, then break another..... just cannot stand this any more!

It's a song - an imported AIF. I lay it down under the time line and then cut the video in the timeline to it (it's for a *cringe* wedding video!). To be as precise as possible, I move to the very first frame of when the music actually starts, as there is usually a second or two of silence on the 'track' before the music actually starts, so I want to cut the silent bit out of the way. As actually listening is more accurate than looking at the waveform, that's the way I have done it to literally hundreds of songs - no issue, no problem, I find the exact first note of the start of the song in seconds.
However, as I keep pressing my left arrow, I have gone past the beginning of the start of the waveforms (and thus start of the song) but still keep hearing sound: 10, 15, 20, 25 frames later till the sound ends - beyond the start of the sound/music track! I'm into empty space, and yet, the sound continues with every press! But press play however - and there is actually no sound there at all until the playhead gets to the waveform at the start of the track!!
I thought I must have hidden tracks, running dual Mono maybe, still a sound track from the video clip above (even though I detach and delete all the audio from the video clips, as I don't need it), but nothing.
But even so, that wouldn't explain why sound is clearly evident when moving back and forth on the timeline frame by frame with the left and right arrows, but the playhead is nowhere near the audio track and is still silent when allowed to play anyway!
Bizarre behaviour, and wrecking my head. I've cleared preferences again and restarted, and now it's fixed again - so I can only hope that this is a twice off (this is the second time since the latest update, but I put it down as a once off the last time and just carried on as I was too busy to go through all the rigmaroll. But now it's happened a second time in less than a week, I've had no choice).
I wonder is Resolve any good, as I'm rapidly running out of patience with FCPX!!!

I've also found that replace edit does not work properly any more and also sometimes clips do not align properly to the beginning of a frame when trimming. I have video frames with the beginning or end showing up on subframes when there is no audio involved.
All have been reported.

And Tom, appreciate the effort, but as it is audio, it's not really something that can be demonstrated via a screen shot.
The ONLY thing that has changed is the update - nothing else has been done, installed, upgraded, downgraded, removed, changed or fettled with: it works - we install upgrade - it now doesn't work, so clearly the testing wasn't as thorough as it should have been to assess all potential parameters and outcomes. But like everything else, we learn to put up with it or work around (until I learn yet another NLE!)

Oh, and please no comments on the music choices - they are up to the couple, I have no say in the matter!!!

It works as expected in 10.2.1. In 10.2.2 I get ghost audio at the beginning of the timeline where there is no audio clip.
I deleted and re-installed 10.2.2 with the same result.
PS - this happens with different projects. Not just one specific one. Old and newly created.

Knowing if everyone has the issue, if only some folks have the issue, or if only you have the issue is VERY important in troubleshooting problems. If you're the only one who has it, it is your system. If only some folks have it, there's something they have in common, that is not universal. If everyone has it, it is universal to the app. So folks stating they can't replicate an issue IS in fact HELPFUL to know where to start looking.

I tested it further after Ben reported a problem with the skimmer, and like him I can indeed reproduce it with the skimmer, though never to the extent your video shows and never with the arrow keys as seen in your video. I see it with the skimmer if I'm zoomed in and skim in the frame before the audio, but not more than one frame early and only when zoomed in. Of course when you're zoomed out you can't really skim a single frame.
Is your media AIFF or WAV?

So, several users can see the bug. But to varying degrees. It is the application, and seems to have some hardware or OS configurations. But definitely a bug and reported to Apple. Anyone seeing this, report to Apple.

1. Create a new project.
2. Place 10 second gap clip
3. Connect any audio clip at about 5 second point of gap
4. Turn on audio scrubbing and scrub the gap to the left of the connected audio (several times quickly)
Results:
You can hear the connected audio clip while scrubbing over the gap.
