Why do I keep needing to update ProVideo?

Look at the image below. Why do I need to keep updating this? Look at the dates. Why isn't it sticking? Is the Software Update app simply retarded?

This has happened on 3 of my machines too.

Delete /Library/QuickTime/AppleMXFImport.component and rerun the update.

If I delete that and then run the update, the file is not replaced. It appears 2.0.1 doesn't deal with that file. I put it back in that place after I ran the update again.

I found a workaround that worked for me thanks to this thread .
Here's the workaround:
1) You download the Pro Video Formats package directly from Apple .
2) Open that package in Pacifist and then use Pacifist to install it.

I did the update using the App Store, then closed the App Store and did the install with Pacifist. It hasn't returned since.

It looks like there is a bug in Apple's installer that somehow Pacifist avoids.

The Pacifist method worked perfectly for me.

I didn't need Pacifist to install it, the installer just worked.

Has anyone also noticed that after installing the Pro Video Formats 2.0.1 there are several permissions repaired to the Apple Intermediate codec group of components?

I saw this update on MacUpdate a few days ago but when I went to update in the App Store app it did not show up. A days or so later it did show up, updated it and that was that.

It was huge amount of permission repair and with the annoying "ALC found but not expected" though it is harmless I had to use a terminal to get rid of it. I used the Pacific solution but was not sure if anything new was installed, so I used Apple official workaround and it seemed to work. Ben, does the update not show up in App Store update after the install.

My MP, it showed up in the App Store as an update, no problem.
My MBP I did the manual download without thinking being in a rush, and installed it without issue.

Neither Mac show the update after it was installed.

If you get permission/ACL issues, BatChmod is the easiest way to deal with that, I've found. But with this update I had no issues at all.

I removed the MXFimport file and it was replaced when installing 2.0.1...

Let's see if I keep getting bugged to update though...

Thank god I'm not the only one having this issue.

I spent an hour dealing with Apple about this too. Once I got the the pro division they told me to do a complete reinstall of the operating system. this was after we tried clearing all sorts of cache's and such. the reinstall of the OS DID fix the problem! (the overall experience with apple and the reisntall was actually quite pleasant, kudos to apple!

Command R while you boot the computer, no worries, you won't loose any setting or data.

(I only had to reinstall my Black magic Desktop video for some odd reason... I wasn't getting AV Playback)

That being said, I think FOR ME the problem is coming from the latest version of colour Finale ( a program I love!).

here is what happened in a somewhat timeline...

1. I had FCPX crash like 4 times in a row while the plug in was active on a clip. I removed the colour finale plug in from FCPX,and then everything worked fine, however, after all the crashes, that's when the update curse started happening.

2. I tried my own trouble shooting, and missed.

3. I called apple, did all of their trouble shooting, no success :(

4. pro division contacted me, informed me the problem likely had to do with the OS. They suggested reinstall.

5. reinstalled the OS.

6. Problem FIXED. YEAH!

7. working on a project, FCPX crashed 4 times while using Colour finale. (I allowed it to crash 3-4 times, cause I wanted recreate the problem from step 1.)

8. I am now stuck with the update curse again.

I sent a crash report to apple and colour finale. hopefully they see the problem.

Hope my tale of woe helps somebody out there.

Walrdos
1) Move all files from /Library/QuickTime/ to a temp older on desktop
2) Open AppStore and download/install update
3) Reboot
4) Copy any missing files from temp folder on desktop to /Library/QuickTime.

@Makki

There are a lot of "answers" floating around but your method seems to have fixed this issue on my system. Thanks

Both my FCPX machines are doing the ProApps update, repair permissions (always AIC related) dance. Lots of suggested solutions but Apple really should have an update to fix this.

Makki - Thanks! This worked perfectly the first time. I haven't even put back any of the old components yet (using only what the update installed) and so far everything works just fine. I will only add back as needed. : >
