Hi Greg and Karsten,
I am going on vacation in a few minutes but will take a look at what you're saying.
You have both been more than supportive and generous wanted to say thank you.

Ok. So let me get this straight: And this pertains to getting rid of has, pauses, cough, whatever.
Let's say I have a two person interview with the audio recorded to a separate recorder. So I have three tracks: Interviewer, Interviewee and audio.
What I think I would do is sync all three tracks up in a project and then create my multi clip. Set up angle viewer etc. And then do my switching back and forth between video of interviewer and Interviewee.
Once this is done, to get rid of the pauses, cough, etc., would this be just a matter of blading the MULTICLIP, removing a split second or so and repeat where needed.
I'd obviously need some B-roll to cover the cut. But is this the way to handle this simple situation. I have not used Mulicam much at all, but this brought to mind this question.

Hi Jonathon,
Really no "B-roll" involved. This is about how to cover up removing very short sections "of of ahhhs", from a vid.
Yes create the Multi-cam clip. Ok 3 angles for example.
I then append to project timeline. (Karsten may do this differently)
I want to remove a couple of "ahhs", "ohms". But I want it to not show up in the finished video.
So there are a few ways to do this.
I would blade all removing the video and audio section that I didn't want. This is assuming very short section removal!
To cover up what would be a weird and noticeable jump, here are the easiest options.
Use the "Morphing" technique as demoed by TPayton. Thanks T, great tutorial. Thanks Dave for linking.
Use "Angle switching" to cover up the jump. Good to do if segments before and after are long enough, but you may not want to do this for various reasons. In the case you presented where the cameras are dedicated to Interviewee/interviewer, switching angles would look weird mid sentence. Where both cameras cover the same subject (actor) but are say medium shot/close-up then it might be ok. Easiest to implement.
Assuming you need to not switch camera angles.
Use the "Morph".
You may or may not be able to use the method suggested by Karsten.
1st as I mentioned, simply attenuating sound to zero leaves a glaring silent spot. Karsten's posting of the 5 min vid by Steve illustrates this very well. So you need to add background sound.
Steve shows how to do it in FCPX. His methods gives a little more finesse. He also demonstrates why you want overlapping cross fades. Really helps to hide the "cover-up".
I must say that I miss having the power of Sound Track Pro as the Wave form editor was great at setting up 50% fade in/out overlaps. Love to have a great wave form editor and some recording faders in FCPX.
The major problem with this method, is that it leaves the video portion alone and so it may show the actors lips forming the word you want to cut out. Not good. This is why I would Blade all or switch angles.
There are other ways to remove and cover up but they require using an audio editing program.
Adding B-roll footage would work if you wanted to segway to what is being talked about for example.
The OP had some other issues including (I think
) a music sound track?? that he didn't want to blade cut.
Bottom line is what is the quality of the video, what is the target audience, how annoying is the original footage, and what is the "best" solution for you?
Hope this helps, Greg

Cheers.
