Possible bug with FCP X full-screen playback

There seems to be a funny bug with full-screen playback from an FCP X timeline. Try this: activate "Show Title/Action Safe Zones" in the FCP X viewer, then press the "Play full screen" button under the viewer. You should see a white dot right in the middle of the full-screen picture, like a dead pixel. Some people have reported this and I have been able to reproduce it on different machines, running Mavericks and Yosemite. Can anyone confirm this?

It's not really a critical bug because when you turn off the safe zones the dot disappears. And you cannot see the safe zones in full-screen anyway. But if it is a bug it should get fixed.

Hi Ronny,

I just tried this on an iMac 27" 10.1.3 with Mavericks & couldn't reproduce it.

Thanks a lot for testing, guys. So I think we can ignore this as a general bug.

Strange that I can reproduce it on my test system, and others have reported this as well. Here's the original thread, with screenshots: www.kenstone.net/discussions/read.php?3,44798,44854#msg-44854

I guess it's one of those strange system-related quirks.

Not seeing the dot here, but i do see the title/action zones even in full screen PB. I honestly don't usually have them on, so I can't say if they were there in 10.9... No dot though :-)

Where we always able to zoom in and out (Cmd-plus/minus) while in full screen playback?

Yes, I have this dot as well when playing the viewer in full screen with the safe zones on (safe zones in full screen mode not visible, however). Using iMac, Mavericks, FCPX 10.1.3.

I see the safe zones in full screen. I'm sure we'll see an FCPX update before xmas.

Remember guys, Ronny means full screen video playback. The app doesn't need to be in full screen mode. Just the playback video so that you see no GUI at all, just video. I initially thought the app was supposed to be in full screen mode but nope. Just the video. I have the dot here on my Mac Pro (trash can one with lots of used tissue overflowing from the top of the bin).

Yes, full screen "playback", shift-command-f. I don't use it often, but just now noticed you can zoom in and out with the keyboard shortcuts during full screen playback, which is cool. When did we get that? And there's a navigation control at the bottom when you mouse over it. Very cool. When did all these tricks get there?

Perhaps the bug is *not* seeing the safe zone outline? Seems to me you should see it unless you're looking at the broadcast out?

depends on the Projects settings, hm?
(you pros, always thinking big ;) )

In 720/25p I see the safe zone lines in full-sceen, and NO dot:

Same material (1080/50p) in a 1080/25p project...
NO safe zone lines, but the dot:

Think it's a PAL problem? 1080/720 p i whatever, always safe areas and no dot. See it's yellow, same as area boxes, not white like dead pixel.

hmm - at last not here, look:

(1080/30p material in a 720/29.97 project: zones, no dot)

(same 1080/30p material in a 1080/29.97 project - no zones but the dot ...)

... we should list perhaps the hardware? Maybe a Graphic Card problem?
In use here: my lil' late2012 MacMini ...

Same here, 1080p (PsF) over 50i, fullscreen playback with Safe Area on.
No Safe Area visible but a white dot instead.

Mid 2009 17" MBP, Yosemite, FCPX 10.1.3

sorry for the triple post.
I kept clicking the submit button because I was impatient :S
