Rewrap ProRes from 24fps to 25fps
So how would you conform 24fps footage to 25fps?Tom Wolsky wrote: I don't know why it would, but I suspect it's dropping frames.
I'em guessing there is no way in Compressor!

Or are you hinting I should drop each clip on a timeline in FCPX and use Rate Conform Floor and reexport the clip out of FCPX?
I'em feeling I can't find the right answer with Apples FCPX and Compressor!

Set your Frame Rate to 25 fps in the Video inspector and then in the General set the "Set duration to: So source frames play at 25 fps". This will slow down the clip to 96.00%
Let us know if you get any ghosting.
I will give it a try myself tomorrow.

What you can do in compressor is turn on motion compensation, which will use optical flow to 'make up' a new frame. It's not perfect but it will avoid most ghosting. The other option is simply to run the 24 at 25 which will cause a slight speed up, but no ghosting or other artefacts. This is the way the bbc recommend conforming 24 to 25.
I know it's not really the problem, but can't you just call the editor or the client and explain that's it's going to be a lot easier to edit mixed frame rate and conform after? Even of you've stuffed it up and recorded 24 accidentally, they'll appreciate the honesty rather than bodged rushes.

Not in my conversions, never saw any ghosting, it always worked just fine. But, not everyone gets the same results, or uses the same settings.

haysoos123 wrote: Either do it in compressor as Scrubilcious says, or just get a hold of Cinema Tools from Final Cut Studio, which can do a batch conform easily. No transcoding. Normally I wouldn't suggest this, but since FCP Studio is EOL, just get a bootleg if you don't have it. But judging by your username, surely you have an old version of Final Cut Studio around, no?
Yes I guess I will dig out the old discs to get Cinema Tools back on.
BenB the only way to receive a result with out ghosting as mentioned by haysoos123 and scrubelicious.
