I have a little yellow triangle with an exclamation mark on one of my events in my event library.

In my project there are no missing files.

When I try to relink files the relink files window opens and it shows me a file that used to be on my desktop but is no longer there.

How do I get rid of the yellow triangle? I know that I can create the missing file and put it on my desktop and the triangle will disappear but that is obviously just a workaround. How do I stop FCP looking for this file?

Launch FCPX and open the Event with the triangle in clip (thumbnail) view. Scroll through the clips until you see the missing one (it will be red), then press CMD+DELETE to delete the offline clip from your Event.

This is the problem. The clip is not in my event. The clip does not exist.

Yes, tried deleting render files. Makes no difference.

Is this a bug? It's been there since 10.0.1 and I assume Apple are just ignoring it.

Or they aren't even aware of it. I have seen a few posts about this issue, but in most cases it was caused by media that were actually missing or that had been changed externally. Maybe people just don't send feedback because in this case the triangle does not really affect anything, except that it's annoying to see.

I would suggest using the feedback form to report this issue to Apple, that's the only way of making sure they know about it.

While I think of it: you say the file was on your desktop but it's not there anymore, so you must have deleted it. Could it still be in your Trashcan?

And another thought: if the file was imported as a symlink to the original file that was on your desktop, maybe the symlink is still in your Original Media folder. If it still is there you could remove it and see if the triangle goes away when you relaunch FCPX.

The file is not in my Original Media folder.

The file was a giff and is now no longer on my computer, anywhere.

I can get rid of the warning triangle by simply creating a giff with the same name, placing it on my desktop and linking to it from FCPX. But this is obviously a silly workaround.

UPDATE: I've just created a giff with the same name of the missing file. I've put it in the Original Media folder and the triangle has disappeared.

This is clearly a bug because I do not use the file anywhere in my FCPX project. Either way, I've got rid of the annoying triangle and I don't need to have the file on my desktop.

Its a fix and means I can carry on with my work now!

Did you accidentally Reject the clip, and then have the event window in 'Hide Rejected' mode? I know this tripped me up when I first started using FCPX. It's because the command for rejecting files is pressing 'delete,' so you think you've deleted it, but in fact it's only rejected.

Go to the event window and press CTRL+C to show All Clips, and you might find the offline clip there. You have to CMD+delete to really delete it from the event.

Remember that the event is really kept in a file that's a database. If the database thinks that the file is supposed to be there, but it's not actually there in the Original Media folder, then it considers it missing.

SOLVED: This fixed it for me. I was indeed hiding my rejected clips. Once I selected "Show All," I easily found the clip, deleted it and the triangle immediately vanished.

I'm resurrecting this 5 year old issue. Maybe someone has figured it out in the interim.
The infamous yellow triangle with exclamation point is glaring at me from the only event in one of my libraries. I have tried the relink operation to see what's missing. Nothing is reported as missing. My project shows no indication of anything missing. I chose "All Clips" in the Browser and went through all 1535 items. No red frames. This makes me nervous. Anybody have any ideas what's going on?

Could be nothing. I've had it pop up for no reason. Could also be you're missing a plugin, which will be even more headache to find.

Generally a missing plugin produces an offline clip that needs to be relinked in which case the browser should show a red clip. The relink window would also usually show which plugin is missing, although not in every single case. I think this is just a bit of buggy behavior relative to the yellow triangle. I've reported this weird behavior to Apple in the past.

Misery loves company and glad I'm not alone. So thanks for chipping in. I have also submitted feedback to Apple. I hope they address this because that triangle has cried "wolf" too many times. And when it does, it takes some wasted time to realize that nothing is wrong.

Not alone, and it is a point of irritation that the mothership keeps piling on shiny new things hoping we forget the irritations of the app...That is why a beta version, a public beta version this late in development is vital, it shows 2 things, the mothership has faith in the app, and it gives the users exact applicable points of feedback.

The warning triangle drives me to the point of swearing, what now, what have I done...what now??? Grrrrh...
Each update I pray for the errors to be removed...but no, sadly the same errors from 10.0.0.0 are there,,,

Hello everyone. I am having this problem, an exclamation mark and T on red background when I highlight the project file in the event viewer and when I play the project - an exclamation mark and T. So I can't actually view the and modify the edit at all. This is after relinking all the files - there is no longer !T against any of the files. So I am stuck as to what I need to do. I have show all clips, have deleted all unused render files as people have suggested above, but stuck. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you

make a search with " Missing" and it will show you clips with missing media

(in case of media off course , in this thread they are reporting missing plugins also though)
