In iDVD I recommend doing the rendering and burning in two steps.
1. first, go to the Project Menu and choose Project Info - set Encoding to Professional Quality - that uses 2 pass encoding and will give you both better quality plus will fit more on a disc
2. then go to the File Menu and choose Save as Disc Image… (it's near the bottom of the menu) - that will save your DVD as a playable disc image file
3. then open Disk Utility, drag that disc image into the left pane, make sure it's selected, and click Burn in the toolbar
4. the burning will go very fast now because it doesn't have to re-render the DVD. Save the disc image to quickly make additional copies as needed
This approach will also help you trouble shoot - you'll be able to tell if the errors are in the multiplexing or the burning stage. I also recommend not making text titles very long in iDVD. Sounds crazy but I've seen a 7-10 word title make a burn fail when a shorter title would work.
Hope this helps!

Yes.
I can't explain the tech details of it, but a huge portion of the problem of some DVDs that are burned in a computer rather than professionally duplicated not playing in some DVD players is due to the fact that some older home DVD players cannot play discs that have been burned at faster speeds, like 12x or 16x or higher. I've had excellent success with compatibility by just choosing to burn at 4x or 6x speeds. It just takes a couple of minutes longer for each burn. Lately I've been using 8x more often and still have not had problems.
Burning slower just helps the odds that your disc will play in an older player - and by older I mean something manufactured more than 2 years ago.
Your situation may be different, but this has worked successfully for me.

Hmm, I've never had this happen. I don't use FCPX to prepare the video for iDVD - I just export a master file and use that directly in iDVD. iDVD will handle the compression from there. Assuming you exported a master file from FCPX and used that in iDVD and followed the suggestions I posted last week in this thread, the only other variables I can think of are: what are you trying to play the disc on that is skipping? and, what DVD media are you using? I use DVD-R but stick to known brands. I don't know what brands are available to you, but I have had excellent results with TDK and with Taiyo Yuden (purchased online).

i dont have media in fcpx, but past days i converted from fcp as .mov files.
i am using frontec DVD-R 16X 4.7 GB
still i tried around 10 dvds but failed.
just now i tried image file to write in dvd using disk utility,
after writing disk while verifying
Unable to burn "project" (verifying the burned data failed.)
like above msg will come.
what is the solution?

OK, same thing - did you export from FCP Studio as a full quality movie or did you apply some compression? If you did compress to something like h.264 that could be the problem. If the file you're working with is an uncompressed export, then the problem lies somewhere else.
It sounds though like you're correctly getting a disk image - you can test it by double clicking it to open it as a "volume" and then starting DVD Player and see if it will play it.
If your image is OK, then the problem is in the burning - either your hard drive is too slow to furnish the data to the burner (or it could just be too full), or there is a problem with your disc burner, or it may yet be that the DVD media is not reliable. If the disc image plays, I'd make sure my hard drive is not too full and also try a different brand of DVD media.
