1. I think FCPX's price point position is spot on right now. Not to look a gift horse on the mouth of course, but I don't think it particularly 'needs' to be reduced. We'll see though.
2. It's a fair point. And price-wise, Mac OS tends to be super cheap, so that's fine with me. However, Dmitri raises a good point regarding users on older macs. But that's always an issue at some point, I remember the transition from power PC to intel well, so many users were frustrated that their outdated technology was no longer supported.
Your last regarding colour correction though, that's the one I'm most interested in myself. A more in depth grading solution, with levels, curves and wheels would be ace! And the addition of a simple tracker would be brilliant. I really hope this happens. If they did that, along with an improved collaborative workflow solution and timeline management enhancements, I'd be over the moon

As to older computers, least we forget, Apple uses software to sell computers and I'm sure they want to push MacPro 1.1 and 2.1 to move to either new iMacs or MacPros.
I'd really like to see tracking with color grading. I can't help but think that with a 2 GPU computer on the horizon, there's going to be improvements with color tools and GPU assisted features.

Just to be clear, I don't think FCPX needs to be discounted. I was simply floating the idea based on the price of the just released LogicX. My only though process being that Apple may be rethinking the price for it's "top tier" Pro apps; since the $100 difference obviously wouldn't make much difference to Apple financially, but would be continuing it's trend of severely undercutting the pricing of similar software. Is Logic X a "less valuable" app for it's users? Again, this is all just thinking out loud.
And while my own personal position has been to keep as current with OS and FCPX updates as possible since starting my own company in 2006, I know there is a segment of Final Cut users who have chosen to stay as far back OS-wise as possible, for stability reasons.

Yes, that's us at my place. We still run FCP 7 on OS X 10.6.8. For the time being at least. Though our hand is now slowly being forced to upgrade our OS, as more and more software and plugins require the newer OS. Will you upgrade quickly to Mavericks do you think? Seeing as we're so far behind, we're not sure whether to upgrade to Mountain Lion now, or to wait until Mavericks has been our for a couple of months and upgrade to that instead? For us, it depends largely on software compatibility and overall stability. I know it took a long time for Nuke to be officially supported on Lion.
