Drop Zones for Templates NOT playing Video

I have sent feedback prior to starting this thread. The compound clip method also has some intermittent results, but appears at least for now to be the best solution.

i had the same problem with driop zones myself. it was pretty difficult to find a solution, but i did.
what worked for me was to select the the drop zone footage from the event browser, not the timeline.
i´m not sure if this is the proper solution, but it worked for me.
my settings are:
mbp with mountain lion 10.8.5
fcpx 10.0.9

Any feedback on the dropzone issue from anyone? I'm still getting freeze frames if I try and chose my video from the timeline. Yes, I know the browser works but often I'm chopping up a long video provided by a client which needs to be dropped in a template and doing it all on the timeline is the fastest solution (and one which used to work eons ago).
