Good remark and great idea. Having a non-square pixel title template could perhaps create better anamorphic SD titles. But I'm afraid the problem lies deeper. Not only the titles, but also the video gets slightly blurred when exporting anamorphic SD. So I think the major issue is with the render engine not dealing well with anamorphic SD. HD video exports have no problems whatsoever, neither progressive nor interlaced.

I recon your probably right Ronny, it could be worth a try but maybe it's just better avoiding non square pixels in FCPX all together.

Non-square HD does not seem to cause any problem, only non-square SD. So yes I think it is the render engine that is not playing well with this kind of footage.

Thanks for all the replies. I will avoid non-square SD. I'm back to work now, so I will try this. Unfortunately I have to work with SD.
