Except for the biggest downfall you can't import Illustrator files like After Effects.

Why would you need to? Motion will do all of that itself, as will Sketch. Get one app that does it all.

From the experience Motion can't handle (performance wise) comply illustration.
We had a project where we build complete global map and it had be moved over to Illustrator and After Effects the perforce was to sluggish and you count create intersection vector shapes (only with masks).

As how much I like the Motion interface I have to say Adobe has here the stronger hand for complex vector integration.

I'm hoping I'm missing something here, how do you export a vector file format from Motion?

Not my findings in my work. Illustrator is a specifically focused app, but Sketch saves me a ton of money. And Motion does 90 percent of the vector drawing we need to do. And we do a lot these days. Between it, Sketch, and Pixelmator, I've no use for any Adobe products at all anymore. Seriously. But if you need those bigger apps, then you need them. Just think you're underselling Motion's vector grahics drawing capabilities. And take a look at Sketch, too.

many reasons, but most importantly, if I create a logo for a client I deliver them a vector based file.

You can't, but you can share them within other Motion users as objects

Maybe print, 3D or delivering format.

This is why i think we won't see any real 3D integration. Guys check out Element 3D for after Effects from VideoCopilot !? Serious revolution for Motion Graphic Artists

That was what I had found, but I was hoping I'd missed something.

Thanks for the Element 3D link, I hadn't seen that. If they ever support animated objects I'll be straight on it.

Export for print from Motion is super stupid easy. Share > Current Frame > select one of several very useful file formats. I do this almost daily using it as a simple vector drawing app.

except for the settings can't really do much there. Besides our contracted print lab would stop looking at us if we would them a locked pixel base logo then a vector.

I appreciate everyone responding to my post and sharing their thoughts on the other programs that can be used in conjunction with FCP X.

Does anyone have any additional thoughts on a Mac Editing System?

Thanks!
