Being a bit of a techno-noob, I must confess I had to look up what "Global Shutter" meant. For those of you in a similar boat, here's what I found;
"With global shutter technology all pixels in the imaging array are exposed starting at the same time and stopping at the same time. This contrasts with the conventional rolling shutter that starts the exposure one row at a time and stops the exposure one row at a time which introduces distortion and artifacts in images of fast moving objects."
Unfortunately, it appears the Pocket Cinema model doesn't have this feature, although it does have an extra stop of Dynamic Range.

No other CMOS digital camera had a Global Shutter until the very recent (and very expensive) Sony F55 (I think that was the one), and Global Shutter was one of its big selling points. The Alexa has some kind of mechanical shutter to deal with it.
RED have just released a digital global shutter (and ND filter) for the Epic, its a paid for accessory, and costs more than the whole BMC4K camera! I think this was going to be a big reveal for RED (because its a big deal), but the wind was somewhat knocked out of their sails with the BM camera.
Interestingly, older video cameras (with CCD sensors) didnt have a need for Global Shutters, and had no rolling shutter. So when ever I need to do fast motion stuff, or images of traffic and that kind of thing, I pull out an old HDV camera that doesn't suffer from rolling shutter or jello. Progress, eh?

If so it is pretty week compare to Blackmagic.
But what I want to know are the FPS for the Blackmagic Cameras!
Found it:
Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera
Shoots 23.98/24 and 29.97/30 fps
Blackmagic Production Camera 4k
Shoots 23.98/24/25fps, 29.97/30fps, 50i and 59.94i in 1920 x 1080
I am not impressed.

No slow motion.
Probably in a year or two we will see some news models.

The Scarlet X deal is pretty good (upgrade to Dragon but keep the grey body) - especially when you consider what original Epic owners paid for the standard Epic, and now for the Dragon. Must be annoying for a lot of owners.

Yes I am ware of that, and that is why I am not impressed. :silly:

I am intrigued by MFT and have a bunch of Digital Zuikos from my Olympus still cam. Wanted to go with a GH3, but now I think I wait a bit.

BMD Production Camera has built in SSD recorder. Does 23.98, 24, 25, 29.97, 30 fps. Very disappointed there is no 60 fps to do a conform in FCPX for slow mo. Could be a deal killer for me.
Phantom 4K is mega impressive, but major bucks.
