13 stops of dynamic range... it's basically the original BMCC, only much smaller and no 2.5k. Active M43 so I can just sell my GH2 body and keep the lenses.
The full 4k @ $4k is also tempting, but I think for what I'm doing now, I'll take the pocket camera in a heartbeat.
Wow.

- Absence of Quality is the essence of squareness.
Not a camera guy but that sounds intriguing :woohoo:

Thats the game changer. Everyone with Canon lenses will jump ship. The DSLR revolution is over.
Yes, the 1st question is can they deliver?
The second question is how soon before RED slaps lawsuits on them?
This BMC takes everything that RED markets itself with, and delivers it at a fraction of the price? RED doesn't even have a Global Shutter.
Sheesh - never mind the end of the DSLR revolution, this is the end of the RED revolution.

I feel like my 5Dmk3 has just been made obsolete for video. Though, at least I still have a kick-ass stills camera. I would really hate to have bought an Epic recently though; man those guys are going to be feeling bilious when they read the news this morning.

I really like to see RED adjust.
If RED slaps a Lawsuit I think they will make more enemies. No?

There are small companies, like Black Magic and GoPro doing amazing and innovative things right now - and people love them for it.
But, not so many years back that was true for RED - they came into the marketplace as the underdog and started shaking the industry to the core.
Its funny how quickly things change....

Haha! So true.
Surprised it took Sony so long (considering Canon released the 4k 1DC DSLR some time back). Sony & Canon both have high end cameras to protect, hence why they cripple their smaller ones. But these 2 latest offerings from BM are going to make them have to reconsider their business model. Surely?

It says 4K support - I wonder does this mean 4K recorded to an external recorder (not onboard)?

What you mean they just released a new version of FInal Cut Pro X and they will have new cool Apps in the App store that will most likely keep your attention spam for... what... a week. :woohoo:

WOW its already available for preorder... even nobody has seen this thing.
Simon I hope the waiting time isn't a year like for the 2K model.

But at least this way I am at the front of the line at the very beginning.
I had said many times that the biggest problem for me with the BMC was the size of the sensor, and if they ever offered an APS or FF sensor I'd jump on board. Well, time to put my money where my mouth is!
The bonus is that this camera is offering so much more than the original version: 4K, Global Shutter, compressed raw (plus ProRes). That with the S35 sensor and the fact that its going to accept all my Canon EF mount lenses. Wow.
