Is it possible to hate the product yet love the ad?

Some very effective use of time-play here, note the bleach bypass washed out look & light leaks to give us a very soft romantic dreamlike sense...

The desaturation almost lends a sort of early 70's feel...

Not sure whether to post this in Music Videos or Adverts!

In a world full of Beer and Car Comercials it makes a nice change.

A story as old as time itself.

Here's a new one that's recently appeared on Scottish TV. It's a long running thing about how the drink gets you through hard situations.

And a bit of a favourite that's been around for a few years now.

Ok, ok it is not really a video advert as such.

But thought that I would share any way.

The technology behind it is kick ass...

Talk about audience targeting!!!

Ever wonder what nano scientists get up to?

The images in this video have been magnified 100 million times.

Talk about going into detail!

See how this emmmm, advert was made

They even show you the Mictoscope room where "the action takes place"

Delightful! And the backstory is fascinating, has to be shot at -260 degrees centigrade (you thought you had difficult conditions on your set). Painstaking & laborious process, but at least their star hits his mark & doesn't complain about the craft services.

Remember the Dove ad we had with the FBI sketch artist comparing how women describe themselves vs how others see them?

Turns out its gone viral & is now the most watched advert in history !

It goes to show, come up with just one good idea & it could launch your career into the stratosphere...

In case you missed it, there are various versions of different lengths. They all carry the same theme & are also great examples of quality filmmaking, with a tasteful use of soft music, light leaks, natural lighting, an interesting flare during magic hour, & one of my favorites, the slow gentle zoom. They began with a brilliant concept revealing a universal condition, but if it hadn't been executed & deployed with the perfect balance of artistic sensitivity & soft sell, it would never have flown. Achieving that harmony, it's no wonder the campaign is breaking all the records...

Here is the future of advertising. Ask yours self the following question is it a coincidence that Google Analytics have Events as a Key concept just as FCP X does! And the doors are where the windows are and the windows are where the doors are.

Finally watched the Jaguar ad, or is that a movie trailer? Now the 2 are blended, as a Bond movie is a 2 hour BMW commercial.

The pay it forward act of kindness one was a bit maudlin & fraught with problems as well as predictability. For instance the woman who is struggling to put a coin in the parking meter, HAS NO CAR! Hehe. Ridiculous. See how many errors you can find...

Anyway, I was watching a tivo'd show & there was this ad for Reclast, a once a year injection for osteoporosis, hmm... But they try a bunch of bizarre transitions in the ad, especially the first one with the boy on the swing.

Sorry I can't find a better copy of this, but you'll get the idea. What do you think of this board coming into the screen becoming the swing?

The whoring continues. As we've been recently discussing, movies have completely sold out to the point of being 2 hour commercials.

This post could go in Trailers, but look how many times the mustang is showcased in this TV spot. (Count how many times you see the Shelby name or logo). Remember, this is just the trailer!

Umm, are those cop cars Japanese & European? Is that why the slightest bump sends them spiraling thru the air like lawn darts? All while the Shelby grips the road like glue... Hmmm...

Well, it's finally here. A film that's completely funded by a single corporation so the entire movie is a 2 hour advertisement for their product. This snow-bunnies in bikinis flick is paid for by the Labatts brewing company. Naturally the movie is an envelope to deliver their beer message of fun, sex & lots of good times, especially for the straight laced hung-up lead character. After all, he really needs to chillax sit back & crack a cold one... right?

www.imdb.com/title/tt2498626/

Oh, by the way, don't fall into the trap of believing the first "review" written on IMDB is legit, it's usually someone hired by the production team.

The company's beer website now looks like a movie trailer site,

www.kokaneebeer.ca/

& oh yeah, their beer sales slogan is "Glacier Fresh," so if you check the IMDB cast list, you'll see they've named 2 of the characters... wait for it... Glacier & Fresh. It's so lame I actually feel queasy.

Hmm... 2 hour commercial for a single product...

What's next?

Here's a clever ad for a real estate development in Arizona, produced by the group over at Relentless. Same guys who showed off at NAB with their amazing new Defy Gimbal (steadicam). Everyone's waiting for this hot item, it's supposed to come in at a more reasonable price than the MoVI version.

While watching this commercial, two questions may spring to mind; What animation software did they use to produce the stellar effects? And ... Why do male performers have such difficulty walking naturally?
