Peter, I am looking for a transition to use in a Music Video edit that would be similar to the shatter effect that you have created. Could you tell me, do I need to have Motion 5 to be able to use this transition or can I just download it to somehow to FCPX and go from there? Yes...I am a new to FCPX. Thanks for your help.

Motion 5 is not required to use the effect in FCPX. Just install it in the transitions folder.
Below are the instructions from the included zip file:

Where to install the "Shatter 2" transition folder:

quit Final Cut Pro X.

go to:

~/HomeFolder/Movies/Motion Templates/Transitions/

Create a folder named SC_Transitions or anything you'd like to have appear in the Transitions tab of FCPX.

drop in the entire "Shatter 2" folder.

restart FCPX.
