COMP GEN / a free title generator with a 70ies look 16 Feb 2017 12:23 #85778

This is COMP GEN, a generator mimicking a computer-display from the 70ies.
It is named v08, because I’m not happy with its single-line-only. But to teach it several lines, it demands some extra grains of grey-matter. Not yet ![]() Anyhow; DL, unzip and drag it into ~/Movies/Motion Templates/Generators The pixelated look is intentional… ![]() Please do adjustments only in the published parameters - that blinkin’ & runnin' cursor was a bit tricky to implement. I recommend to use only fonts with a fix width, such as Monaco.- Enjoy Movie Making! |

VERY nice effect. Brings back so many memories...my first laptop(the very FIRST computer advertised as a laptop), was a compaq, 50lb.(no exaggeration) suit case size with handles and straps, that I lugged back and forth to work every day (on a bus then subway in New York) with a 6 inch green screen, that looked just like your effect. That is how I got my exercise....back then.

Hey Karsten,
Great style for that title. Not one that I'd use often but it's definitely come up in the past where I needed this exact look. Unfortunately, after loading it in, when I go to my Generators and locate it, my FCPX crashes immediately after selecting it. Any thoughts? Jeremy Brandt VHSTV |

hmm, odd...
dl the file I posted here, checked it, tried it, opened it - nothing special inside. It does not contain any new Behaviour, or 'hacks' or tweaks or whatever.... And as you read above, on other Macs it behaves well … Sorry to say, but that's beyond my skills. … I can only recommend to deinstall it ![]() |

Actually....I just tried it too, and it is crashing on me, as well. As soon as I click on it in the generator tab...BAM.
System Integrity Protection: enabled Crashed Thread: 26 com.apple.helium.rq.gpu-ru1.vs0 Exception Type: EXC_CRASH (SIGABRT) Exception Codes: 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000 Exception Note: EXC_CORPSE_NOTIFY Application Specific Information: std::bad_alloc abort() called Don't know what this means but it is the first part of the crash report. I also tried to open it in motion and it opened OK. Seemed to work, but then I tried to re-save it as a plugin with different name into FCPX, and as soon as I open FCPX it crashes now. I am not even able to open FCPX now without it crashing. (Had to erase all copies of it in my motion template folder, in order to get my FCPX to work again.) Really strange, nothing I have seen before... Regards, K. P.S. I am also on 10.3.2 I guess this plugin is trying to tell me something..."I am afraid I can not do that, Dave!" ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

… meanwhile Mark Spencer/Rippletrainng published his version of such a title:
maybe, a bit more robust than mine… but no 'pixels' - HA! (Have to admit I'm jealous on his icon for it - nice artwork !!) |
