UPDATE! Free FCP X Photo Album Effect

Hi,

I'm using your generator and it's really a great job. Thanks! I just have some troubles with the multiple photo pages. When I select any multiple photo page option in the Animation type menu, there's still one drop zone and the background becomes back. Pretty weird..
The single page works like a charm. I don't know what i'm missing or if there's an issue with multiple photos.
I'm not really a Motion expert but I'm gonna have a look anyway. If anyone has an idea, he would be very welcome.

Hi Paul,

Nice to hear you like the effect.
The behavior you see is normal. In fact the background gets transparent so you can place a second generator underneath and have that as the last photo in the stack, or you assign it to be a subsequent photo in the stack and place third generator underneath that one, etc.

I can't say anything.. That's just brilliant!
I got the fact that you have to place another generator underneath to add another page but didn't think about adding another one to add a picture (or do a stack, etc). In fact, with this technique, you can do almost everything.. That's great!
As usual, the problem was between the chair and the keyboard..

I'm trying to put multiple photos on a page but it doesn't work????

I have put the cover and multiple photo generator on top: Animation Type: Cover page and multiple photo

with a second image below: Animation Type: Last in stack



I still only see one photo on the page?

Am I missing something obvious?

Hi Ryszard,

I think you are on the right track. Try to adjust the size of both photo's and position one on the left and the other one on the right. You can do this with a combination of the source scale, position and rotation controls and the phot position, rotation and crop controls.
When you apply the generator and don't adjust the parameters, the two photos will be at their default size and position and thus on top of each other.

Just one more question..... I have inserted a short video clip into one of the pages.

The video plays fine but there is no audio?

Is that how it is meant to be or am I missing something obvious again???

Hi Ryszard,

Motion Generator Templates don't include audio. If you want to use the audio from a videoclip you have placed in the drop zone, you can audio-only edit its audio as a connected clip.

I really appreciate your work, it is a fantastic achievement and I thank you for making it available to everyone.

Using FCPX, to create and compose your photo album, but I do not own the copyright to compose the "cover page & multiple photo page" and "multiple photo page."
I have read (translating) all post of the topic, I have seen and applied all the schemes published, I originally downloaded the Template, then the Generator and its updates, unfortunately without success.

I am attaching this video to show my difficulties and problems. In fact, as you see, a page consisting, for the 1st and 2nd picture is missing the backgrond page (which is normal), but in the 3rd and last picture the background page is small.
How to fix?
How to get a correct page, comprising: protection page, photo 1,2,3, ..., background and all that properly performed.

If possible, describe step by step, how to compose the "cover page & multiple photo page" and "multiple photo page," or making a video.

Hi Tony,

I will try to make a video for you later this week.
It seems to me that you have resized each generator in the Video Tab in the Inspector.
That will not work.
If you want to make a page with more than one photo you have to use a generator for each photo and put them on top of each other.

Set the Animation Type of the uppermost Generator to Cover Page & Multiple Photo page.
Leave Protection Page On checked.
Adjust Source Scale, Source Position, Photo Crop X, Photo Crop Y, Photo Rotation, Photo Position X and Y (all in the Generator Tab in the Inspector) to make the photo smaller and to move it to a side or a corner. This will make room for more photos.

Set the Animation Type of the Generator that is in the next layer down to Subsequent in Stack for Multiple Photos.
The Protection Page is automaticaly disabled for this layer, the checkbox has no influence.
Adjust Source Scale, Source Position, Photo Crop X, Photo Crop Y, Photo Rotation, Photo Position X and Y (all in the Generator Tab in the Inspector) to make the photo smaller and to move it to another side or corner. This will make room for more photos.

Set the Animation Type of the Generator that is in the last layer down to Last in Stack for Multiple Photos.
The Protection Page is automaticaly disabled for this layer, the checkbox has no influence.

When you have assigned a photo to the dropzone of each of the 3 generators, made them smaller and positioned them as described above, all 3 generators together will act as one page with 3 photos.

I tried to install the generator like explained on vimeo...
don't really understand what I did wrong.. but the generator effect is "red" like if it didn't ound his "clip" and son it doesn't works of course...

a picture is better... in the inspector my generator is like that and the "generator" information is empty
what's wrong?

I've managed to put the unzipped folder into the motion templates.localized folder but I can't find the installtion inside FCPX (V10.1.4) running OS X Yosemite 10.10.1

I've tried changing the name and directory to match what was written in this forum but still can't find it.

Any help would be great.

It should just work. But I realize that won't help.

Hi Al,

I think I have found a solution for it.
Andreas Kiel has done some great work on this topic and he has made a free installer tool for Motion Templates.
I have used it to make a distributable for the Photo Album Generator.
In order to install, you first have to download and install the Motion Template Tool .
When that is done you can download the Photo Album Generator distributable here .
After downloading and unzipping you open the RJvdDoes_Photo_Album_Generator_V2.0 folder and double click the .mtt file. This will install the Generator.

Let me know if this works for you.
