Well, I had to post this here i "New Mac Pro" as you haven't got any category for the "old" Mac Pro

We have a 2010 Mac pro in our studio with the following specs:

2 x 2.4 Ghz Quad-core
28 gb 1066 DDR 3 ram
Quadro 4000 Cuda card
A mix of SSD for system and HDD for data

If we do NOT want to spend the money on buying the new Mac Pro, what parts of our existing Mac Pro would give us a better performance?

Is the only part, in reality, the graphics card and if so, what card would be the one to go for?

Thanks :)

There is a thread here about using dual GPU's you would want to check out.
The Quadro, according to the Apple engineers I've spoken to, are not the best performing card for FCPX and Motion specifically.

But RAM is plenty, and an SSD boot drive would give snappier performance. Consider an eSATA RAID, 6 drives, too. That's about it.
