Hello everyone,
I'm new to the forum so, cheers!

I wish to have some informations about how to optimize my macbookpro for FCPX, since I'm facing big jobs and I need some improvements.

Here is my actual setting:

Mac Book pro 15" Early 2011
2 GHz Intel Core i7

Snow Leopard
Final Cut Pro X 10.0.8 (background render disabled) (the reason I din't updated yet to new releases is that I'm working on a very big project, and I prefer to complete it before switching from Events to Libraries as FC archives.

Working on FCP with an external RAID0 1TB Hard Disk (Guardian Maximus Mini), connected in Firewire800

The main problem I'm facing is that final cut pro x is not so fluid when the project grow on the timeline. ( I usually work wich BETTER PERFORMANCE)
Then when I start adding effects like fades and split screen for examples, render times slow down my operating speed a lot.

I'm thinking to upgrade to 16Gb Ram, BUT I noticed that even during rendering or export 3Gb of Ram are always Free, so I fear that upgrading the ram will not help FPC.

Then I was thinking to add an internal SSD, but I'm not sure this can improve FCPX performances too.

Updating the operating system to Mavericks or Yosemite will let FPCX work better?

Anyway, I'm waiting to have the possibility to switch at least to an Imac 27", meanwhile I have to improve ma macbook!

Please, any hint will be appreciated!
