Portable Bluetooth Speaker Recommendations? 04 Jul 2014 16:50 #49189

Greetings!
I'm looking for suggestions/personal experiences with portable bluetooth speaker solutions for use with my MBP. I've read about the Bose SoundLink Mini, Jambox, and a few others, but haven't really listened to any of them. I want something to use when I move my setup to the living room or off-site to edit, or to just to listen to music through something other than my TB display or near-fields. Anything out there that sounds nice and full that fits the bill? Thanks! Craig |

Keep in mind theres a delay so your video and sound won't be in sync if you're planning to edit over bluetooth. Most speakers have a line in though so as long as you cable it for those times you'll be fine.

Well, I finally made it to a Best Buy to try out various models of speakers. Honestly, I was surprised how bad a lot of them sound. Then again, we're talking about portable bluetooth here.
BenB, the one that did impress me the most was the Bose SoundLink, but I wasn't too impressed with the mini version. Ironically, I tried out the Bose Companion 20 system, which isn't bluetooth but still portable. While coming in at $249, they actually sounded pretty sweet to me. It's really hard to listen to these in a big-box environment, because you're never really sure what kind of source audio you're getting. Search continues... |

No, I don't have the "mini" version. I have the original model. Looking at Bose's web site, it looks like they don't make it any longer, having split it into two models, the "mini" and the "III". What I have I assume is closer to the version III, not the mini.
Even Bose calls the mini's audio performance "good", compared to the III's. www.bose.com/controller?url=/popup/compa...uetooth_speakers.jsp |

Very nice, but a little out of my price range.
Actually, I ended up going with the Motorola Deck. As far as portability, sound, features, and price, I thought it was the most bang for the buck. Again, I was just looking for something that would give me some good reference sound. I still use my near-fields for the important stuff. Thanks again to everyone for their input. |
